Twitter owner Elon Musk is ready to take the competition between his company and Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook to the next level, issuing a challenge for a cage fight with Zuck, who, surprisingly, accepted the invitation. Okay, how many of you had this on your 2023 bingo card? Me either.
According to Fox News, Zuckerberg responded to Musk’s challenge by saying, “Send me location,” then providing a screenshot of the Twitter owner’s original tweet. In the original post Musk said, “I’m up for a cage match if he is lol.”
The match seems to have been inspired by a group of Twitter users, including Musk himself, who posted comments concerning ca report about Zuckerberg’s Meta working on a new application similar to the Twitter platform that would end up being its direct competitor.
“I’m sure Earth can’t wait to be exclusively under Zuck’s thumb with no other options,” Musk replied. Not long after that, a user on Musk’s platform reminded him that Zuck is a student of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, also known as BJJ, warning him to “be careful.” Musk then said he’d be willing to get in the cage with the Meta chief.

Some were likely wondering if this was simply the Twitter head honcho cracking a joke, as he’s known for tweeting memes, but he affirmed the challenge to Zuckerberg was a real one.
“If this is for real, I will do it,” Musk said after a Twitter user took a screenshot of Zuck’s response and shared it with him. Musk is actually a bit bigger and heavier than Zuckerberg, but he went on to admit that he’s not what you might call a “gym rat,” as he hardly works out, except “for picking up my kids and throwing them in the air.”
I have this great move that I call “The Walrus”, where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing

Musk also had a suggestion for where the celebrity bout could take place, going on to state the “Vegas Octagon,” which is a reference to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s cage, which is eight-sided. The UFC is the premiere league for mixed martial arts competitions. For those who might be new to this kind of combat sport, MMA includes a mixture of techniques from a variety of striking and grappling arts including boxing, Muay Thai, wrestling, and Zuckerberg’s favorite, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Someone also tweeted that popular podcast host and UFC commentator Joe Rogan could serve as the referee for the bout. There’s little doubt that if Rogan were to participate in the event, he would be an outstanding referee. He’s worked for the UFC for a long time and is a trusted analyst of the sport. Not to mention his listening audience would likely tune into the event.

In another tweet in the thread, Musk revealed he has a “great move” he could utilize against Facebook’s founder, which he calls “The Walrus.” According to the billionaire the move is “where I just lie on top of my opponent & do nothing.” What kind of opponent is this move successful against? Musk says one who is smaller in height and weight, an obvious reference to Zuckerberg.
Interestingly, Zuckerberg is not just taking BJJ classes, he’s actually competing in the sport. In fact, he recently took him first place in a no-gi white belt tournament in the 149-pound division that was held in Silicon Valley. The very same day, he took second place in a gi category. The guy’s not a push over it seems. It will be interesting to see if this actually happens.
