Folks, we might be witnessing the downfall of Target. One of the world’s greatest and most profitable superstores has been moving more and more toward the woke side of business in recent years, and this Christmas season, they have taken it even further, featuring LGBT spirit items to go along with their Christmas apparel and decorations.
This unbelievable move has sparked outrage among many circles, none more, however, than conservative Christians in America who are taken aback by how lightly Target took the decision to desecrate the celebration of Jesus Christ’s birth with items that go directly against his teachings.
According to the Washington Examiner, Erik Thompson is a “Senior LGBTQIA+ Segmentation Strategist & Pride Lead” and leads the charge for Target in its woke merchandising department. Under his watch, LGBT-themed nutcrackers and black-skinned Santa Claus figurines have begun lining the store in every location. The shocking move is already causing an uproar on the internet and may very well lead to a drop in the company’s profits like their last woke endeavors.
Thompson posted a celebratory picture and caption to Instagram, explaining his excitement toward the upcoming partnership with Target.
He wrote, “Honored to get to start a new body of work and lead Target’s LGBTQIA+ multicultural merchandising strategy and Pride businesses for the company and the LGBTQIA+ & Allied communities across the the [sic] nation…Time to whip out the … Glitter & Hellfire … flamethrowers and rip that old world to shreds darlings.”
If there was any doubt about the political direction that Target execs were steering the company, that should all be gone after seeing this hire. Fox News host Jesse Watters took to Twitter to voice his complaints with the decorations, comparing it to the disaster that took place when Bud Light tried going woke a while back.
Watters wrote, “We’re witnessing the Dylanization of corporate America. Companies are committing financial suicide- one after the other. Target hired Gay Cruella to run their merchandising strategy and now they’re selling gay nutcrackers and disabled Santa’s. And if you want one, you can just steal it, because they won’t stop you.”
Meanwhile, Target CEO Brian Cornell made possibly the overreaction of the year, comparing the backlash he is receiving over the woke items to violence after George Floyd’s death.
Cornell said, “Well, why don’t we step back? So this is my 10th holiday season at Target you and I have been talking almost every quarter during those 10 years. And, you know, I’ve seen natural disasters. We’ve seen the impact of COVID leading into the pandemic, some of the violence that took place after George Floyd’s murder, but I would tell you that the, what I saw back in May, is the first time since I’ve been in this job, where I had Store team members saying it’s not safe to come to work.”
So, there you have it. The decision is yours, but plenty of conservatives are making the decision to avoid shopping at Target now, following their decision to completely bastardize the holiday season and make fun of Christianity’s most important celebration.
