Footage has resurfaced of former President Donald Trump and former First Lady Melania Trump appearing at the 62nd Daytona 500 NASCAR race in Daytona Beach, Florida. The video from 2020 shows Trump and his wife taking to the stage as Lee Greenwood’s patriotic hit, “God Bless the USA” played over the loudspeakers.
Trump addressed the eager NASCAR fans, stating, “My fellow race fans, there’s no greater thrill than to join you at the world center of racing for the 62nd Daytona 500. So excited.” The then-president proceeded to give a thumbs-up as the crowd cheered. Moreover, Melania looked stunning alongside her husband, wearing a classy and beautiful black and white dress.
X user JoCoCo MAGA originally shared the footage in early 2020, encouraging viewers to “take a Gander” at the beautiful Melania Trump. “Remember when all the Press could talk about was Michelle Obama’s arms? Take a gander at Melania’s gorgeous arms!!!” they wrote. Other users echoed the same sentiment in the comments section, praising the former First Lady.
One person also contrasted the patriotism of Melania to Michelle Obama, “Also, Remember Michelle “The 1st time in my life I’m proud of my country compared to Melania “I’m so proud to be an American.” This user was referencing infamous comments from former First Lady Michelle Obama who said she felt proud to be an American for the first time only when her husband was elected president. “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback … not just because Barack has done well, but because I think people are hungry for change,” Obama said.
Another social media user praised Melania, not only for her timeless sense of style and class, but for her service projects and philanthropic efforts to those in need. “First Lady Trump is poise and class. Her projects – at risk children and support of military families,” this person wrote, applauding Trump’s wife for her selfless dedication to the community.
Trump, who attended the race as the Grand Marshal, made other comments praising “The Great American Race.” He added, “It really is the great American race. And I look at this as almost a patriotism kind of thing. It’s incredible. The people are incredible. We love the area. We love this state. And it’s a very exciting you know, I’ve been here four times before as a civilian, and now I’m in a different capacity. We love NASCAR, and we love the people of NASCAR.”
When aske what he loved about the sport, the president said, “I think it’s really the bravery of these people. I mean, these are very, you know, they do all the safety things and everything, but it’s, it takes great courage. It’s the speed, it’s really the technology. You look at what’s happened just over the last 10 years with the cars, I love to see it. I love to watch it.” He also joked that he intended to compete in the race himself, saying, “I’m going to hop into one of these cars, and I’m going to get into this race if possible.
