In a tragic example of woke politics gone wrong, Jennifer Stomsky, a tax collector and former Wissahickon Democratic Committee vice chair, resigned amid backlash for a Facebook post following Charlie Kirk’s assassination, stating “history is filled with blood” and “Let’s make some more martyrs.”
Backtracking from her previous comments, she apologized and took responsibility for the situation. Additionally, the Wissahickon committee condemned the remarks and made it clear that this type of violent rhetoric is never acceptable.
Kicking off a massive controversy, Jennifer Stomsky initially posted, “History is filled with blood,” and “Let’s make some more martyrs,” shortly after Kirk’s tragic murder. Almost instantly, she was shamed with negative feedback and forced to apologize.
Backpedaling, she stated, “I recognize that my words were not only hurtful, but they fell far short of the standards I hold myself to and that this community deserves. I take full responsibility for the pain, disappointment, and division they have caused.”
Reacting, the Wissahickon Democratic Committee distances itself from these wildly inappropriate social media posts. “The remarks made by our former Vice Chair do not reflect our values, and she has resigned her position. We are committed to respect, accountability, and a safe, united community. Violence is never a partisan issue. It is never the answer,” the party stated.
Doubling down, Jason Salus, chair of the Montgomery County Democratic Committee, issued a full-throated condemnation, saying, “The call for violence just escalates into more violence, and there should be no tolerance for it.”
Building on his previous comments, Salus explained that violent political rhetoric should not be tolerated. “As leaders of the party and elected officials, we have a responsibility to turn the rhetoric down, turn the temperature down, and lead by example.”

Adding to these remarks, Salus noted, “Social media, where she spewed these words, is toxic, but I think we have an added responsibility as public officials to be mindful that folks look to all of us, whether you’re a local committeeperson or you’re the president of the United States, and none of it should be tolerated. None of it should be acceptable.”
Similarly, Ambler Mayor Jeanne Sorg took to the local news to decry the horrible comments. She stated that any politician should be forced to stand down in a similar case, saying, “Any public official who irresponsibly makes comments advocating violence and those who support it should resign their offices immediately.”
Still not done, the mayor noted, “Every elected official in Ambler has a duty to serve all residents with fairness, dignity, and respect. No one who encourages violence against political opponents can credibly continue in office.”
Reacting to this significant breach of etiquette, Glynnis Siskind, Ambler Borough Council president, stated, “Do not reflect those of Council, and we are glad to see that she has posted an apology and taken some corrective action.”
