In major news for the upcoming mid-term elections, New Hampshire Democrat Jeanne Shaheen has announced that she will not make another bid for her seat. This shifts the important swing state towards the Republicans, which Trump narrowly won in the 2024 election. On social media, some users connected her decision to step down to recent corruption allegations and speculated that the longtime Democrat may have been looking to avoid legal scrutiny.
For background, Shaheen was vital to maintaining the Democrats’ position within the Senate. While Republicans control the Senate, they do so by a narrow margin. Given the popularity of the President and his policies, the state may turn red in the next midterms, particularly after the incumbent senator drops out.
As we reported, Senator Shaheen announced her retirement in the face of a mounting red wave in the Senate. She said, “I ran for public office to make a difference for the people of New Hampshire. That purpose has never and will never change. But today, after careful consideration, I’m announcing that I have made the difficult decision not to seek reelection to the Senate in 2026.”
Concluding her remarks, the Democrat said she will continue working as a woke activist. She said, “And while I’m not seeking reelection, believe me, I am not retiring. I am determined to work every day over the next two years and beyond to continue trying to make a difference for the people of New Hampshire in this country. I hope you’ll join me in that effort.”
In any case, conservative pundit Benny Johnson took to X on March 12, 2025, to expose the Democratic Senator. He said, “Documents show that a trust connected to the husband of outgoing Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen executed multimillion-dollar purchases in a Florida retirement community in 2024.”
In the comments under his post, conservatives pounced on the retiring senator. One such comment said, “Lemme guess … her family’s connected to USAID somehow, and they’ve received millions of dollars in ‘grants’?” Another user added, “Looks like Shaheen’s husband’s trust cashed in big on Florida retirement properties in 2024—perfect timing with her exit from the Senate.”
Building on this bombshell, users expressed their exasperation with corrupt politicians. A user said, ‘I really hope all these corrupt politicians both Republican and Democrat are properly investigated by the new FBI and if any wrongdoing is found, I hope they’re all thrown in prison.” Another comment read, “WOOW. She must be the best trader in the market. Or, she’s just corrupt as heck. I think I know which one it is.”

Rounding out the comments, many of the replies advocated for a full investigation. One such reply read, “She thumbed down all of Trumps picks. It’s time to look into these senators and congressman/women income tax returns just as they did to Trump. Let’s see where our tax money has gone.” Adding to the conversation, one user said, “perhaps @JeanneShaheen @SenatorShaheenwould care to comment? When she does, perhaps she’d explain how her husband’s once little law firm blossomed into a behemoth as her political career advanced…”
