The English Women’s National Soccer Team finished second in the Women’s World Cup, falling to the Spanish women by a score of 1-0. While many were expressing their sadness over the loss or their joy that the English team made such a deep run in the tournament, the woke media quickly pounced on the squad for their lack of ethnic diversity.
The commentators exhibited a shocking lack of awareness when they decided that it was time to bash the team for trotting out only white women for the final game, with all 16 players being called “blonde and blue-eyed” by Wilfred Emmanuel-Jones MBE. His rant began, “I don’t want to pour boiling water on it but it isn’t that diverse.” Jones was talking about a newspaper cover featuring a picture of the team, according to Breitbart News.
He continued, bashing the homogeneity of the team. “It really sticks out at you. They look blonde and blue-eyed. If it was the men’s World Cup it would be very representative of the Britain that we’re in and very, very diverse.”
“What jumps out at you is that this doesn’t represent diverse Britain. It’s all these blonde blue-eyed girls – and I wish them well – but I do think we need to ask ourselves questions about why it is that there is a lack of diversity,” he concluded.
What a ridiculous take from Jones who seems to be insinuated that a player’s race should be taken into account when selecting a person to represent the nation on the English team. This kind of unfairness and complete disregard for merit is something that the left has hung its hat on for years.
In what would amount to a relative of affirmative action, recently outlawed in the United States of America, Joins would have the team filled to the brim with players who fill diversity quotas, only ten seeking out good soccer talents.

Eilidh Barbour, a white woman who works for BBC Sports, had a similar conniption fit earlier in the tournament. She said, “An historic eight-goal victory for England last night as the lionesses secured their place in the quarter-finals but all starting 11 players and the five substitutes that came on to the pitch were all white and that does point towards a lack of diversity in the women’s game.”
Not even soccer players are safe from the Left’s desire to see diversity quotas implemented in the workplace. If Barbour could make the rules, it seems that she would make it mandatory for teams to carry a more diverse group on their rosters. What will she do when the team begins to perform worse due to being forced to overlook some of the most talented players in Egland to meet her demand? Undoubtedly, she will once again complain.
