Speaking to Fox News, a rancher in the Texas-Mexico border area put the US government on blast for looking “spineless” and making America the “laughingstock” of the world, a state of things that the rancher alleged has made border residents unsafe. Specifically, she said that, under the current state of things, she doesn’t even feel safe in her own home because of the mass migration problem.
That rancher is Shelly Means, a lifelong Texan. She made her comments on the border and the scary, dangerous state of things in the region when speaking to Fox News about Texas’ border laws. Ms. Means believes those laws will help reverse the situation and deter future illegal immigrant border crossings, particularly the ones in massive numbers America has seen under Biden.
As background, the Supreme Court recently allowed a Texas law that criminalizes illegal border crossing, making it a state crime that thus can be enforced and lead to arrests from state law enforcement personnel, helping give Texas legal authority to defend the border where and when the Biden Administration will not. The Biden Administration fought the law in the courts.
Torching America’s federal leadership for its weak approach to the situation when speaking to Fox News, Ms. Means said, “They’re spineless. We’re a joke to other countries. The United States is the laughingstock.” Continuing, she explained how dangerous the situation is, saying, “The ranchers and the landowners along the border, I don’t believe it’s fair for us to have to defend our southern borders or defend our home and our livelihood. I don’t feel safe at home alone anymore.”
Continuing, she supported the new law and the power it gives law enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants, framing the law and its rigorous enforcement as being common sense. She said, “Our law enforcement, I think if they are arresting people that are illegally entering our country, I am 100% for it. If you or I were to enter a country illegally, I think that we would suffer repercussions as well.”
She then demanded strength from America’s leadership, explaining that we don’t need people who bend with the wind or refuse to act with strength and vigor, but rather people who will put Americans first and defend the border properly. She said, “I don’t think that we need uncertain leaders. I think we need somebody certain that’s going to stand up for our southern borders and the people of the United States.” Reiterating that the current crop of “leaders” do not have such backbones, Means said, “The leaders of our country need to have a backbone. They have no backbone, and to allow this to happen is a travesty.”
And, explaining how badly she thinks things are going because the government will not properly defend the border, she said, “I think we’re going to hell in a handbasket if we can’t protect our southern borders and what’s going on down here and how it affects their own people. We pay taxes to live in a free country. We’re not free anymore.”
She added, in reference to the squatter problem exacerbated by illegal immigrants, “Once again, it goes all the way to the top. It’s called spineless. If an illegal is coming in and taking over a taxpayer’s home or any home that doesn’t belong to them, I think that they should just push the button and get them out and send them back to where they came from.”
