The suspect in the fatal South Carolina car accident that left a newlywed bride dead has recently expressed remorse during jailhouse calls. The 25-year-old suspect Jamie Lee Komoroski also indicated that she believes she will be released on bail within a few months.
“I can’t believe this is my life… and my whole life is going to be over,” she said in a recorded jailhouse phone call. “Oh my God. I just can’t believe this happened to me.… Why me?… I’m going to be here for years and years and years and years.”
Komoroski allegedly crashed her car into the back of Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson’s golf car after they had just left their wedding reception in Folly Beach, South Carolina. Samantha was killed on impact, while Aric suffered severe injuries. The bride was still in her wedding dress. Two other family members rode in the golf cart during the crash but survived. Police records indicate Komoroski was driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone with a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit.
“I want it to be over,” Komoroski said. “I just pray and hope that the judge understands how regretful and remorseful I am, and that I’m not a bad person and that I’ll never do anything bad again,” she continued. “There’s been people that have, like, killed people on purpose before and, like, they’ve gotten out on a bond,” she told a group of friends, hopeful she would be released from jail on bond. “[O]bviously, I didn’t mean it to happen. I just feel like a terrible person, like, I didn’t mean for any of that to happen,” she added.
Komoroski’s attorney said, “We cannot fathom what the families are going through and offer our deepest sympathies. We simply ask that there not be a rush to judgment. Our court system is founded upon principles of justice and mercy, and that is where all facts will come to light.”
Samantha Miller’s mother, Lisa Miller, told Fox News Digital, “It wasn’t an accident. This person chose to drink, get behind the wheel, and plow down my daughter. This is a conscious choice that a young lady made.” She continued, “Aric and Sam are definitely soulmates. Their hearts were very much alike. They both loved incredibly.”
The mother then described the horror of hearing the sirens, stating, “It was like a really bad movie, a really bad Netflix movie. We were running down the road toward all these lights…and we just were running and screaming Sam’s name.” She added, “Then I got the call from Sam’s dad that said, ‘Sam isn’t at the hospital. She’s still here. She got killed, and I just identified her.’”
