“Sound of Freedom” Estimated to Blow Past $100 Million Mark

As it does the very difficult thing for films and does better and better as the weeks wear on, Angel Studios’ “Sound of Freedom” looks like it will blow right past the $100 million mark this week, just two weeks into its release in theaters. Costing about $35 million to produce, advertise, and release, that success means it will bring huge profits to both Angel Studios and the theaters screening it.

Deadline reported that the data from the movie’s second weekend in theaters shows it could be headed for a $100 million in gross sales this week, saying (emphasis theirs), “Angel Studios’ Sound of Freedom continues to ring loudly at 3,265 theaters with a second Friday of $6M (+15%), a second weekend between $20M-$22.5M, and running cume that could reach $81M by EOD Sunday. This Jim Caviezel thriller is bound for a $100M-plus gross.”

Angel Studios, in a tweet about the film’s success, said, “Sound of Freedom fans, thank the theater staff for supporting the mission of bringing awareness to this movie. Thank the young staff members who ensure the largest possible audiences see the film. Let’s treat theater employees with the respect they deserve. #SoundOfFreedom”

Further, Angel Studios noted its success so far in a July 16 press release, saying, “Angel Studios—a platform and studio empowering filmmakers to crowdfund, create, and distribute films and TV series globally, backed by thousands of Angel investors—is announcing its July cumulative-to-date and second weekend results for its Jim Caviezel-driven film SOUND OF FREEDOM. Angel Studios is projecting over $85 million total cumulative box office revenue through Sunday, with a strong $27 million box office draw in the second weekend of the film’s domestic release.”

Jared Geesey, SVP of Global Distribution at Angel Studios noted that the success of “Sound of Freedom” comes alongside a slew of flops for summer blockbusters, meaning that the movie is doing well because people want to see it, not because people are heading to theaters en masse right now.

He said, “While the entire summer movie box office lineup is underperforming, our small independent film continues to grow week over week. Driven by millions of fans and supporters, SOUND of FREEDOM has become a national—and soon international—movement for change.“

Brandon Purdie, Head of Theatrical Distribution for Angel Studios, noted the film’s massive success as well, commenting that its increased performance over the opening weekend is nearly unheard of in the industry, particularly at this time of year.

In his words: “There have only been 10 wide-release movies in box office history that have had a second-weekend increase greater than 35% over their opening weekend. All of them achieved this milestone during Christmas. Angel Studios is the only studio to accomplish this feat during the summer blockbuster season with ‘SOUND OF FREEDOM.'”

‘Sound of Freedom’ has crossed $85mm and projected to cross 100mm by Wed.

    Amazing.

The movie has been incredibly popular with audiences mainly because of the subject matter, which is Tim Ballard’s quest to save children from a worldwide sex trafficking operation, a storyline that many connect with Jeffrey Epstein’s pedo island and the rumored degeneracy of America’s elite.
