Recently, President Biden made a confusing gaffe where he appeared to confuse the Israeli port city of Haifa with Rafah, a city in the Gaza Strip. Biden made the mistake when speaking with Nextstar Media’s Reshad Hudson about his administration’s plan to cater to pro-Palestinian voters as the Israel-Hamas conflict wages on.
“I’ve been meeting with them, number one. Number two, I made it clear that we have to vastly increase the amount of food, water, healthcare going into Gaza,” he said, illustrating his plan to promote humanitarian efforts amid the war. “I made it clear to the Israelis — don’t move on Haifa!” he added, apparently confusing the Israeli city with Rafah. “It’s just not, I mean, anyway,” Biden said following his mix-up of the two cities.
RNC Research, a popular Republican National Committee-run account on X, shared the clip, pointing out Biden’s apparent mistake. Users on X flooded the comments section expressing continual concern for President Biden, where such gaffes have become ubiquitous throughout his term.
“How long will his handlers allow him to speak in public?” one person asked. “He has gotten worse in the last four years, no way he can make it another four,” another person asked, skeptical about Biden’s elderly state. “This is incredible. There’s just too many gaffs to share. And the media won’t show any of them,” wrote another person, highlighting how pervasive Biden’s mistakes are in his public speaking engagements.
“Our children’s history books will talk about how America literally had no leader during this time,” another user commented, voicing a sentiment many conservatives have that the mainstream media refuses to cover Biden’s gaffes.
“Man, he looks great, and I’ve seen death warmed over. The way he delivers whatever the heck that was was masterful. There’s no doubt he is fit and ready to stand as our hahaha, hold on, as our leader. Ok!??” another person said, presumably employing heavy sarcasm.
Biden is no stranger to mixing up details when giving speeches or answering questions from the press. Earlier this month, the president received criticism for repeatedly referring to the Czech Republic as Czechoslovakia, a nation that hasn’t existed since the early nineties. In another instance, Biden claimed he had spoken to former French President Francois Mitterand during a G7 summit shortly after he became president. The only issue is that Mitterand had been dead for nearly thirty years. Watch Biden’s latest gaffe below:
Such instances have occurred continuously throughout the Biden administration, leaving many voters concerned about whether Biden’s mental and physical fitness are sound enough for him to serve as President of the United States. Both Democratic and Republican voters have expressed concerns about Biden’s age and its implications for his ability to lead the nation.
Furthermore, this opinion was corroborated by the findings of Special Counsel Robert Hur, which partly determined that Biden should not be criminally charged for his mishandling of classified information because of his elderly age and apparent complications with memory.
