A resident of Aurora, Colorado, the city reportedly plagued with violence from Venezuelan illegal immigrant gangs, recently sounded off on the media’s response to the local crisis. One Colorado woman, Cindy Romero, blasted the mainstream media, which has downplayed the situation as the Trump-Vance campaign has drawn attention to Aurora as an example of the consequences resulting from Vice President Kamala Harris’s mismanagement of the southern border.
Romero stated that it feels like a “slap in the face” for the media to disregard the predicament in Aurora as she was forced to move out of her apartment due to the rising violence. “I feel like it’s a slap in the face,” she said. “How many gangs is okay to have in Aurora? How many properties is okay to take over? How many people, who are citizens paying their bills, is it okay to displace?”
Romero’s comments followed a tense exchange between Republican Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance and ABC News host Martha Raddatz during an interview over the weekend. As Vance brought up the troubling incidents involving Venezuelan gangs, Raddatz said, “I’m going to stop you because I know exactly what happened. I’m going to stop you. ‘The incidents were limited to a handful of apartment complexes’ and the mayor said,, ‘Our dedicated police officers have acted on those concerns.’ A handful of problems.”
Vance fired back, pointing out how absurd Raddatz’s comments were. “Martha, do you hear yourself? Only a handful of apartment complexes in America were taken over by Venezuelan gangs, and Donald Trump is the problem and not Kamala Harris’ open border?” the Ohio senator said, pointing out how ridiculous it was for her to downplay the Venezuelan gangs.
“I was pushed out of my apartment by gang activity, people carrying guns in the hallway and patrolling their grounds with guns, and now I’m speaking out, because I’ve released my video that proves the existence of gangs in Aurora,” Romero continued, illustrating how bad her experience was with the gang problem in Aurora.
Romero added that it feels as if city leadership is also downplaying the severity of the crisis in Aurora. “I feel like the mayor and the governor and the [police] all downplay the situation,” she added. “I was pushed out of my apartment by gang activity, people carrying guns in the hallway and patrolling the grounds with guns.”
Republican Aurora Mayor Mike Coffman recently addressed the illegal alien gang problem in his city explaining that they are a “victim” of incompetence at the federal level and also the nearby city of Denver’s status as a sanctuary city, which invariably attracts illegal immigrants to the area.
“You’ve had these massive waves of migrants coming across the border that many of them crossed the border illegally, were arrested, asked for a political asylum, were not adequately vetted, were released into the country, the city of Aurora,” he said in an August interview on “America Reports.” “We did everything we could to, quite frankly, keep them out of the city because it’s not our problem. This is a federal problem.”
