In yet another edition of members of Congress making fools of themselves by being utterly unable to control themselves during spats that take place in committee hearings, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) and Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-FL) went berserk, snapping at each other during a fight about Sen. Padilla’s getting handcuffed.
For reference, Sen. Padilla caused chaos when he charged toward the podium at which DHS Secretary Kristi Noem was speaking for a press conference. He was not, at the time, wearing his pin showing him to be a member of Congress. So, the guards pushed him back, and they got in a shoving match that led to his being handcuffed and detained.
In any case, the spat began when Committee Chair Rep. James Comer (R-KY) said, “The chair now recognizes Mr. Frost.” Rep. Frost, in turn, said, “Mr. Chair, I have a unanimous consent request.” He continued, “A unanimous consent request to enter into the record an NBC article: ‘Senator Alex Padilla removed from news conference with Homeland Security Secretary Noem.’” Comer, going along with it, said, “All right, without objection, so ordered.”
Continuing, Frost then added, “I have another one from The Hill article: ‘Padilla forcibly removed from Noem press conference.’” Comer said, “Without objection, so ordered.” That led Frost to his last one, saying, “And I have a third one from Axios: ‘Democratic Senator forcibly removed from DHS press conference.’” Comer admitted it as well.
Then the fireworks began. Frost started saying, “Mr. Chair, I also want to know if you can commit to working with us so we can subpoena—” Rep. Comer cut him off and snapped, “You’re out of order. The chair recognizes Mr. Greene.” Frost then said, “I have a point of order. No, I have a point of—” Comer allowed him to state his point, which led to Frost starting to say, “We need to subpoena—” Comer fired back that his ramble about a supoena wasn’t a procedural point of order, saying, “That’s not a point of order. The chair recognizes—”
With that, the explosion in yelling started, and Rep. Greene threw a major verbal haymaker Rep. Frost’s way, saying, “Reclaiming my time. Reclaim my time! Reclaiming my time. Democrats can’t follow the rules, can’t follow the laws, can’t follow the rule, can’t follow the law.” Frost, whining, snapped back, “We need to subpoena Kristi Noem.”
Greene wasn’t done, and fired back that Frost was part of the party destroying America, snapping, “There’s a privilege of the majority, and that means we’re in charge, not your side, because you lost the election because you supported the destruction of our country.” Frost, in turn, asked her, “Will you commit, on the record, to work on subpoenaing Kristi Noem?” He again added, as he and Greene shouted over each other, “Will you commit, on the record, to subpoenaing Kristi Noem because a U.S. Senator was just thrown to the ground and detained in his own state?”

Greene, in turn, snapped back that Rep. Frost was showing an inability to follow the rules of procedure, jabbing, “Democrats can’t follow the rules. You’re out of order. Can’t follow the law.” Frost then started talking over her again and Comer had had enough, yelling, “Shut up!” Just shut up! Shut up!”
Another spat then resulted, as Frost snapped, “No, you don’t. No, you’re not going to tell me to shut up!” Comer, explaining himself, snapped that Frost had repeatedly been out of order, saying, “He’s been out of order six times. He is trying to get on MSNBC. You probably knocked somebody off MSNBC to get on there.”
Greene, in turn, said, “I think it’s because he’s been arrested as a former Antifa member, right? Antifa.” As Comer tried to get her to stop, she repeated the jab, saying, “He’s a former Antifa member, Mr. Chairman. No surprise.” Frost snapped, “Who’s a former Antifa member? Me?” Greene then said, “Yeah, you!” Frost demanded, “I ask that these words be taken down.” The rambling fight then continued as Comer tried to get Greene to ask her questions and she and Frost instead continued sparring.
