Former President Donald Trump is battling against Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg in a New York courtroom over DA Bragg’s allegation that he mischaracterized a supposed “hush money” payment to Stormy Daniels as a legal expense when it should have been recorded as a campaign contribution. According to a report on the matter in the Daily Mail, his wife, Melania, is standing by him as he battles the allegations.
The Daily Mail reports that, though Melania was apparently “furious” about the payment, she got over that initial anger and now is working to be the “rock” of the family as Trump fights it out in the courtroom and runs his 2024 presidential campaign.
According to a source who the Daily Mail said is “familiar with the Trumps,” Melania is sticking by Trump during the fight and is there to be the Trump family’s “rock.” That source said, “She’s not going anywhere. She’s there for him.” The source continued, “They’re going through it together.” The source then added, “She’s been that rock of the family.”
The Daily Mail report came in the context of leftists online claiming that Trump is “alone” in court. MSNBC contributor Joyce Alene, for instance, said, in a post about the matter on X, “I have rarely seen a defendant facing trial alone with no family, at least one person, in the courtroom for him. It’s a sad commentary for a former president with four grown children & a wife, all of whom seem to have deserted him in the moment.”
Similarly, OK Magazine reported that other commenters said, “Considering the number of people who have been found guilty in Trump’s sphere and the subject matter of this particular trial, it’s not all that surprising. It has a certain ick factor,” while another added, “And let’s not forget the irony of a man who spent his entire presidency attacking and undermining the justice system now having to face the consequences of his own alleged crimes. It’s like a Greek tragedy, if Greek tragedies were written by a reality TV producer with a spray tan.”
But while the left claims as much about the situation, the Daily Mail report indicates that, however mad Melania might have initially been when news of the payment broke, she’s now sticking by Trump and helping the family stay strong through the trial, even if not in court with him. One reason for her not heading to court is that she wants to help Barron as he wraps up high school, particularly given that the judge might not let Trump miss court for a day to visit Barron’s graduation.
That would make sense in the context of what Trump has previously said about Melania. As The American Tribune reported, the former president noted earlier this year that Melania is typically a private person who prefers to remain behind the scenes away from the chaos of the current political climate. Instead, the former first lady would rather focus on family matters about their son Barron.
He stated, “It’s funny, she was a very successful model, very, very successful, and yet she was a private person. She’s going to be out a lot. Not because she likes doing it, but she likes the results.” Trump continued, “She wants to see this country really succeed. She loves the country … Melania is a brilliant person. Her life revolves around Barron and the success of our country.”
“You know, a lot of first ladies would go out — they want to be everywhere. They get angry at their husband because he’s not introducing them.” The former president added, “If I didn’t introduce Melania, she’d be very happy about it. She’s just a different kind of a person.”
