Anyone that has ever watched the ABC trainwreck, otherwise known as “The View,” knows that the “ladies” on the panel aren’t exactly the most warm and fuzzy human beings. When they aren’t spreading half-truths and pushing their own far-left agendas, they are race-baiting or making outrageous statements, mostly about conservatives, in order to stoke dissent and attempt to bolster their feeble ratings.
Considering ABC’s parent company, Disney, is desperately trying to unload the failing network, even the bombastic, over-the-top attacks on conservatives aren’t saving the show. Rather than course correct and attempt to reimagine their image and relaunch the show, the ladies of The View continue to spread acrimony and push scurrilous viewpoints.
Recently, one of America’s most visible pop-culture icons of the last 20 years made some eye-opening yet unsurprising claims about Joy Behar. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was being interviewed by Andy Cohen on the Bravo Network’s “Watch What Happens Live” when Cohen asked her who the rudest celebrity she has met since being in the public zeitgeist is. Her answer floored the host.
When asked by Cohen, Snooki wasted no time: “Joy Behar! Joy was so mean to me. She cornered me in the bathroom! And said, ‘You’re not Italian!’”
After collecting himself, the flabbergasted host asked Snooki how she responded. Clearly rattled, the reality star, who has never been at a loss for words simply replied: “I said, ‘OK, ma’am.’”
While no one else has corroborated the story, Behar did claim in a 2010 interview that she had told one of the “Jersey Shore” stars that they weren’t Italian, so Snooki’s claim checks out.
Being her warm and fuzzy self, Behar also lashed out at the cast during the same interview. She said: “Let me tell you something about those kids, OK. I grew up with kids who were just like that. When I was a kid, there were a lot of kids like that around me, OK – they’re all in jail now.”
Of course, the world was a different place when the 80-year-old Behar was a kid, so it isn’t surprising that some ended up in jail. The cast of Jersey Shore, to their credit, has mostly avoided burnout and run-ins with the law. The MTV reality show shot the cast to fame, and they still exist in the public consciousness all these years later.
Despite the acrimony, the entire cast appeared on Tuesday’s episode of the view, likely much to the delight of the dozens of viewers watching at home. Coincidentally or not, Behar was not in attendance for Tuesday’s show, but Whoopi Goldberg had some effusive praise for the now middle-aged Jersey Shore kids: “When they first came [to ‘The View’], they were getting a lot of heat from people, and I was so glad to see them, because they were fresh, and they were just ready to do stuff, and I said to them, ‘Listen. They’re gonna come for you. You just gotta stay strong, no matter what.’”
Incredibly rare positivity from Goldberg, and a moment the entire cast should seize upon. Like it or not, Jersey Shore was a success, the reunion shows have been successful, and the cast, by and large, have all thrived in the years since breaking through on MTV. This may not sit well with Joy Behar, but she is welcome to act like the old person yelling at the kids to get off her yard. The kids from Jersey Shore probably don’t want to play in her yard anyway, especially Snooki.
