In yet more good news for Republicans as the 2025 New Jersey gubernatorial election draws closer and closer, it is looking increasingly likely that Jack Ciattarelli, the Republican candidate who has been backed by President Trump, has a good chance of winning. The race is already razor-close, and now more and more Democrats in the state are throwing their weight behind him.
As background, while New Jersey has long been a Democratic Party stronghold, it is now moving to the right, thanks largely to President Trump and MAGA, and looks like the perfect confluence of circumstances could lead to it electing a Republican governor in this gubernatorial cycle.
Because of the momentum win it would deliver, that is something that would be a major pre-midterms win for Republicans and blow to Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. As such, both parties are fighting hard to make it look like they are winning in New Jersey, and to ensure they come out on top in the end.
In a bit of very good news for Mr. Ciattarelli, it looks like some of the “blue dog Democrats” in the state are finally realizing that they need to switch sides if they are to keep their state from going wildly to the left on social issues, something they very much don’t want, and as such are deciing to endorse Mr. Ciattarelli.
Announcing as much in a bombshell report about one of the key figures who has gotten involved in the backing, Fox News said, “Ciattarelli has secured endorsement from local Democratic officials, including lifelong Democrat Anthony Vainieri, a North Bergen Commissioner, and former Chairman of the Hudson County Democrats!”
Describing the momentous news in a post on X, conservative X personality Eric Daugherty said, “🚨 HOLY CRAP! Trump-backed New Jersey governor candidate Jack Ciattarelli has now gained the endorsement of nearly a DOZEN prominent state Democrats.” He added, “Go vote and flip NJ RED!”

Mr. Ciattarelli, commenting on the election situation and how it is nail-bitingly close but looks to be going well for him, said, “As you know, many of these polls have a dead heat. And that’s in a state in which Republicans typically under poll because we are the minority party. And when you have the endorsement of Democratic mayors across the state, it says people want change. That’s exactly what we’re going to deliver when we win this race.”
However, the Democratic Party’s candidate, Rep. Sherrill, told Fox News that she is getting good mail-in voting results, and thus remains confident that victory is possible for her. She said, “We’re seeing great returns on the vote by mails. We’ll start early voting the 25th, which we’re really excited about. We’re seeing a ton of energy on the ground.” Further, she added that her campaign has “the biggest volunteer field program that anyone in New Jersey has ever run… We are getting the right doors, and I’m really excited about what we’re gonna see.”
