In an act of sheer hypocrisy, a video clip is going viral on social media platform X for showing New York Police Department officers putting up barriers to secure the perimeter of Madison Square Garden for the wedding of former President Joe Biden supporter and mega pop star Taylor Swift. Many conservatives have noted that Swift is essentially building a wall and hiring security to guard it in order to prevent her wedding from being crashed by unwanted guests, comparing it to border security and immigration.
Arizona state Rep. John Gillette commented on the video, saying, “So she is building a wall, providing security for that wall, making people show ID to get past that wall. That adds up to a sound border plan for her wedding. She demands open borders for the rest of us… little people. She is just another communist and he [Travis Kelce] will be licking her boot in no time.”
Someone else on X called out Swift and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani for stating that the city couldn’t have an extra Independence Day celebration on July 3 because of hiring NYPD officers to provide security being too expensive. “Couldn’t have extra celebration on July 3 and 4th in Times Square because the communist mayor said we couldn’t afford the NYPD tab! But we can afford to fund NYPD for a billionaire’s wedding??????” the user asked.
Leigh slammed Swift for requiring photo identification to be used to verify the identity of individuals attending the event. “How dare she ask for ID? She’s setting back people who can’t get it,” Leigh wrote. Another individual wondered if Swift was complying with Mamdani’s order to set all building thermostats to 78 degrees. “Also, do you think they have the air-conditioning at 78° in the garden?” the person asked.
“Taylor Swift is more important than our border and secure voting. This is the message we receive,” ISeeYourDecay commented. Not only was Swift’s wedding roasted for her obvious hypocrisy concerning immigration enforcement, but the White House also got in on the action, trolling the couple’s official marriage announcement on social media with a spoof of their own.
“IT’S HAPPENED!!!” the official White House X account posted, according to a report from The New York Post. It included a fake photograph of massive purple digital signs outside Madison Square Garden that said, “Trump is your president.” Several years ago, President Donald Trump expressed his hatred for Swift on social media shortly after the pop star announced she was supporting former Vice President Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election.
“I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” Trump went on to say in a post on Truth Social written in all caps. However, the president did soften up a bit in August 2025 after the couple announced their engagement. “No, I think he’s a great player, I think he’s a great guy,” the president commented during a Cabinet meeting. “I think that she’s a terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.”
