Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes Ditched LA to Better Raise Their Kids

Though they haven’t escaped California, celebrity couple Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have ditched Los Angeles to better raise their children. Explaining how getting out of the city will help their family, a source with knowledge of Gosling and Mendes said that they ditched the city because they don’t want their two young daughters to grow up “around other celebrity kids.”

News on that comes from People magazine. It reported that a source informed it that Gosling and Mendes moved north, away from Hollywood, so that the two daughters they share, Esmeralda, 9, and Amada, 7, can grow up normally and away from the children of other celebrities and actors.

That source, speaking to People, said, “For them, the most important job is their girls. Everything else comes second.” Continuing, the source added that the two young girls are thriving in the new location, saying, “And their girls are thriving. They left L.A. to live a bit further north, away from Hollywood. They didn’t want the girls to grow up around other celebrity kids.”

Further, the source commented that Gosling and Mendes have done an admirable job of separating their work lives in the movie industry from their relationship and family life. The source said, “Eva and Ryan love their life. It’s admirable how they’ve been able to create balance and boundaries. They care so much about their marriage and just want their girls to live a happy life.”

It is unclear, Fox News Digital reported, whether Mendes and Gosling are married, or just in a dating relationship. Though the source said “their marriage” to People, the couple had previously just been in a “long-term relationship” since 2011, and no marriage had been reported.

In any case, Mendes remained supportive of Gosling when he took the role of “Ken” in Barbie, one for which he received much online hate. Posting about it on Instagram, she said, “So proud of my man. So much hate when he took on this role. So many people trying to shame him for doing it. Despite all the #Notmyken ridicule and articles written about him, he created this completely original, hilarious, heartbreaking, now iconic character and took it all the way to Oscars. So beyond proud to be this Ken’s Barbie 💕”

Mendes and Gosling are far from the only celebrity couple to ditch LA to raise their kids in a better way. Ian Somerhalder, an actor known best for his roles in “Vampire Diaries” and “Lost,” said that he left LA to raise his kids on a farm.

Similarly, Dean Cain, the Superman actor, said that he ditched California because of its terrible policies, saying, “I moved because of all the tax policies, the soft-on-crime policies… tax on everything: energy, water, gas, the craziest ever sales tax.” He added, “There’s no state income tax in Nevada… and they don’t have these crazy policies. The homeless issues in California, Gavin Newsom has driven that state into the ground. I’m very unhappy.”
