Rob Reiner, the veteran actor, writer, and director who staked his claim to fame as “Meathead” in the 70s sitcom “All In the Family,” continues to live up to his character of Michael Stivic. Reiner, a devout Democrat and vocal critic of the GOP and former President Donald Trump, regularly spouts off on Twitter and now X regarding his thoughts and closely held beliefs about what is best for America.
The 76-year-old director has a long, star-studded list of cinematic successes behind the camera. His credits include Stand By Me, When Harry Met Sally, A Few Good Men, Misery, and scores of other smash hits. Sadly, somewhere around 2015, when Donald Trump announced he was running for president, Reiner decided to focus his life on Twitter and bashing the GOP.
As with most high-profile people on social media, if you espouse a certain viewpoint, particularly where politics are concerned, folks on the opposite side of the playing field are going to fire back. Reiner lobbed his most recent volleys at conservatives over the weekend, but formerly canceled comedian Roseanne Barr was waiting to take Reiner back to school.
Reiner shared his apocalyptic view regarding what would happen if the GOP took back the White House in 2024, eliciting a scathing rebuke from the “Roseanne” star. Reiner said via X: “Let this sink in. Republicans say that even if Trump is a Convicted Felon who attempted to destroy American Democracy, they will still vote for him. We will only survive if he, and the corrupt party he leads, is decisively defeated in 2024.”
While many folks on both sides of the aisle would find that take utter nonsense and hyperbole, it is increasingly clear that Reiner believes it. Actor and comedian Roseanne Barr fired back on X: “What a crazy idea, you mean beat him in a fair and general election that would require good ideas and debate (and not so obvious corruption)??? Lol, Good luck dems.”
Barr is, of course, referring to the general belief of more than half of the country that there was treachery afoot during the 2020 election. Whether it can be proven or not, those beliefs aren’t going to be discarded just because Democrats scoff.
Roseanne doubled down as she continued: “We know why you’re cheating and lying and indicting and false flagging. It’s your only hope. But keep telling us we are the threat to democracy.”
Roseanne correctly points out how the Democrats constantly false flag and use scary-sounding phrases like “threat to democracy,” which mean little in the real world, even while the evidence mounts implicating the Biden family in unsavory behavior.
Barr has taken great pleasure in roasting the Biden White House on social media whenever she can. On Sunday, the RNC posted on X about how much vacation time Biden has taken. They said: “Since taking office, Joe Biden has spent 380 days – 39.9 percent of his presidency – on vacation,” to which Roseanne quipped,“Imagine how much worse things would be if he was working every day.”
Barr is undeniably funny and quick-witted, but her barbs are scary, considering she is right. Roseanne put it most plainly when she got serious and stated: “If you’re not upset with democrats and the media cover ups and gaslighting campaigns by now, you’re too far gone.”
Rob Reiner is likely too far gone ever to be reached. However, the hope is more people will come around and see that the world is burning, and the Democrats are pouring the gasoline while Biden laughs like Nero from his crystal palace.
