Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasted the woke Bud Light ad campaign featuring social media personality Dyland Mulvaney and encouraged conservative consumers to hold fast on their boycott of the product during an interview with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson. DeSantis reminded Americans they hold “power” over these companies by choosing where their dollars are spent.
DeSantis added that he would no longer be drinking Bud Light because he saw no reason to benefit “woke companies” and their incessant drive to “change our country…and culture.”
“Why would you want to drink Bud Light? I mean like honestly, that’s like them rubbing our faces in it, and it’s like these companies that do this, if they never have any response, they are just gonna keep doing it,” DeSantis said to Johnson during their conversation.
“So, if you as a consumer are like… ‘ yeah, they’re doing that, but I’m just gonna keep drinking it anyways,’ well, then they’re gonna keep doing it,” America’s Governor continued. “So I think we have power as consumers to make our voice heard, and not on every company because sometimes conservative consumers aren’t going to make a dent in some companies.”
He later added: “This one is one if you don’t have conservative beer drinkers, you’re gonna feel that and so you know.”
EXCLUSIVE: Gov. DeSantis On Bud Light Boycott:
"Why would you want to drink Bud Light?
If we don't push back they're gonna keep doing it. If you don't have conservative beer drinkers, they're gonna feel that.
It's a righteous. Pushback is in order.
I'll never drink Bud again" pic.twitter.com/tIOI1W8c1J

At this point, the blowback against Bud Light and its parent company, Anheuser-Busch, is well known and reported. In brief, Bud Light featured transgender activist and social media personality Dylan Mulvaney on a beer can. Mulvaney also shared videos celebrating the promotional relationship.
The ad spot was part of Mulvaney’s celebration of “365 Days of Girlhood.”
A video then featured Mulvaney in a bathtub drinking a Bud Light beer as part of the campaign.
DeSantis wasn’t done hammering the woke company, saying, “Some of these controversies that come up, and people can kind of just say, ‘Oh, well it’s kind of a one-off, yeah, it was stupid to do,’ but it’s part of a larger thing where corporate America is trying to change our country. Trying to change policy, trying to change culture, and you know, I’d rather be governed by we the people than woke companies, and so I think [the] pushback is in order across the board including with Bud Light.”
When asked what he would drink instead, DeSantis said that he and his wife prefer a Guinness Draught.
“What would I do? My wife and I, whenever we just go out for a beer, we actually like the stout, Guinness,” he stated. He said that both and First Lady Casey have liked the beer ever since a visit to Dublin, Ireland.
Coinciding with the interview in which he forcefully came out against Bud Light – again – the DeSantis team was hard at work producing videos highlighting the inclusion of biological males in traditionally women’s sports.
The video, a parody of Bud Light’s “Real Men of Genius” ads from the late 1990s and early 2000s, showcased the “Real Men of Women’s Sports.” It goes on to show competitors like Lia Thomas and other biological males competing and winning against their over-matched female competitors.
Take a look at that ad below:
