Proving that it’s never too late to do things the right way and embrace the American Dream, “Rocky” star Dolph Lundgren and his new wife Emma Krokdal became United States citizens this week after residing part-time in the country for 40 years. The couple has resided part-time in America since meeting in 2019 but decided to embrace freedom officially.
The 66-year-old international star wrote on Instagram: “Finally did it! I’ve been in this country on and off for 40 years now. First as a student then as a fighter and an actor. America has given me some wonderful opportunities and an amazing life. I’m proud to become a US citizen and officially make this my home.”
Lundgren, who was born in Sweden, first came to prominence in 1985, playing Soviet boxer Ivan Drago in Rocky IV. Drago killed Appollo Creed in the ring, setting up a grudge match in Russia between himself and Rocky Balboa that Rocky ultimately won, ending the Cold War, at least in the movie. However, he is more than just a beefy actor.
Lundgren is also a martial artist and was European Champion in 1980 and 1981. The “Expendables” star also has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney in Australia, and speaks multiple languages. The multitalented actor and his wife, 27, both posted pictures displaying their citizenship papers and holding American flags.
Krokdal wrote on her social media: “Feeling lucky to now have two homes [US/Norway] two very different countries, but the mix of the two have made me who I am today.” The couple met at a Los Angeles gym in 2019, where she worked as a personal trainer. They married last Summer at their villa in Mykonos, Greece. Despite the obvious age difference, the couple work together on numerous projects.
Lundgren said of his wife: “Emma is great. She’s wonderful. Great support. And we work together on a bunch of projects. She’s very clever, and she’s very smart for her age or for any age. So we produce stuff together.” He also added that his wife is “very mature for her age, for sure. She’s had an interesting life. She came over here from a small town in Norway. She was married here, and she went through a difficult divorce and went through a lot of stuff that most young people her age don’t have to deal with. So she’s quite mature and at the same time, I think I’m quite youthful,”
The “Creed 2” star just directed and starred alongside his wife in a movie called “Wanted Man,” and both were listed as producers on the film. He reports that they also have another project in the works, “We have another project. We’re working on a comedy.” Lundgren starred in ‘Kindergarten Cop 2,” so he is no stranger to comedy. Most importantly, he and his wife are now proud American citizens.
It is nice to see people coming to America the right way and embracing the culture of the country. Too many on the left hate America these days, and too many are sneaking in without regard to our laws. Certainly, Lundgren and his wife have an advantage financially, but to see them proudly waving American flags reminds us that we are still the greatest country on Earth.
