The San Francisco 49ers suffered a heartbreaking loss as the game came down to field goal in the dying seconds, and they failed to convert. Even though the team lost to the Cleveland Browns last night, fans and commentators saw the team battle through a game in which they did not have some of their best offensive assets and still fought to keep it close.
Rob Gronkowski, who was recently outspoken on the issue of transgender people competing in women’s sports, heaped praise onto young 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy for the way that he has played throughout this NFL season.
Speaking in an interview with Fox News Digital, Gronk said, “It’s kind of easy to say you can plug in quarterbacks, and they would all be winners as well just because there’s so many weapons around them. But that’s how you win championships, man.”
Even though Gronkowski was a tight end in his successful career as a football player, he became an expert at understanding elite quarterbacks since he played his entire career with the greatest of all time, Tom Brady.
Continuing, Gronk said, “He fits great with that organization, he fits great with that team. So you can’t say that. It’s easy to say you plug in any quarterback, but (realize) that’s not the case. Brock Purdy is the man in San Francisco. He understands the organization, his character fits in perfectly, and they definitely hit the gold with him being on his rookie contract making only, like $800,000, which is wild.”
Brock Purdy has been a welcomed surprise for fans of the 49ers as the late-round draft pick was never expected to be much more than a productive backup quarterback during his tenure in the NFL. After the team called his number last season, however, Purdy seized the opportunity and never looked back.
He now is under center pulling the strings for one of the best offenses in the NFL, and he’s looking brilliantly calm and collected given the massive pressure that he is facing. 49ers tight end George Kittle appeared on the Pat McAfee show and complimented his quarterback, saying, “He’s just so consistent and as long as we don’t turn the ball over the DAWGS ARE GONNA HUNT BABY.. Purd Dawg is that boy.”
Rob Gronkowski was just recently in headlines after he said this about biological men playing in women’s sporting events. “There’s really no thoughts to really even share. It’s the obvious. There are men’s sports for men, there’s women’s sports for women. It should just stay like that. It’s just as simple as that, man. There’s really no argument. There should really be no conversation about it.”
Gronkowski has put on a masterclass at staying famous after his playing days have ended, parlaying his multiple Super Bowl victories into a job commentating professional football. This has afforded him the ability to stay close to the game that he loves without having to put his body on the line constantly.
