The divide between liberals and conservatives deepens, especially regarding social issues. Certain liberal provocateurs continue to preach against science and common sense and excoriate those who choose to stick with ideas like Christian values, traditional gender roles, and basic common sense.
Of course, most Americans lean toward common sense, but unfortunately, that portion of the country isn’t the segment that possesses the common sense. Liberal politicians paid shills and otherwise, folks, either mentally unstable or with an axe to grind, throw out terms like “white privilege,” “transphobia,” and “homophobia” to shame and back down conservative commentators.
Thankfully, conservatives have a few loud voices with a platform, and they aren’t afraid to use them. One in particular is former University of Kentucky star swimmer Riley Gaines. Since losing to transgendered swimmer Lia Thomas, Gaines has been outspoken about the advantages enjoyed by transgender athletes. Despite the fact that most people agree with her, activists on the left continue to gin up controversy as if the playing field was level.
Perhaps the saddest, loudest critic of Gaines is the former ESPN personality Keith Olbermann. Once a staple of sports media, Olbermann has immersed himself in the political world and bad ratings in recent years. The voyage from ESPN to a lowly-rated YouTube show has been sad and entertaining all at the same time. Recently, Olbermann made the mistake of once again insulting Riley Gaines, and her response was epic.
Gaines had recently criticized a state senator for refusing to define what a woman is. In response, Olbermann made the mistake of implying Gaines was a failed athlete. The results were disastrous for Olbermann. The former sports broadcaster said: “Second team all-conference. Happily for nasty, stupid, unsuccessful transphobe @Riley_Gaines she has no reputation to ruin.”
Gaines was a collegiate star at Kentucky, but apparently, Keith stopped following sports after his dismissal from ESPN. Gaines was a second-team swimmer in 2019 and 2020 before gaining first team during her last two years in Lexington. The fued began when Olbermann said on X that Gaines “sucked at swimming,” and “that’s why [she] lost to Lia Thomas.”
In the viral video, Gaines showed off her numerous trophies and shot back at Keith, “Ah, makes sense now why you got fired from ESPN.” The comments from Olbermann about Thomas prompted former Penn swimmer Paula Scanlon to rush to her Gaines defense. She said to Olbermann on X: “Your political bias blinds you and dismissive views like yours embolden men to change in front of us. “Why don’t you address the reality that women’s spaces are being invaded and many women are harmed by this narrative.”
Naturally, leftists like Olbermann, who are desperately hanging on, relying on controversy for attention, are happy to back the current narrative. When the current thing fails to be what is popular, they will pivot to the next thing. Fortunately, loud voices like Riley Gaines keep receipts and won’t let bullies like Olbermann run her over while spreading the truth, and conservatives will remember as well.
