Residents of Springfield Celebrate Trump’s Haitian Policy

The folks of Springfield, Ohio could not be more thrilled with President Donald Trump’s policy that ends Temporary Protected Status for 350,000 Haitian immigrants, as a citizens’ group posted on social media that thanks to this program being ended for these individuals, fairness and the law have won a huge and important victory.

The message was published on the Facebook group, “Stop the influx into Springfield, Ohio,” by group member Tammie Poe. “Nearly 5,000 members share one common belief: America is a nation of laws, and those laws matter. We welcome the DHS [Department of Homeland Security] decision to end Temporary Protected Status because we believe it is a step toward restoring respect for our immigration laws after years of policies that many felt ignored or bypassed them,” Poe wrote.

“We expect our city, county, state, and federal agencies to fully cooperate with DHS as federal law is carried out,” the group, which put together a rally after the Supreme Court found no legal grounds to prevent the president from ending the TPS program for the Haitian population currently residing in the mid-sized Ohio city, went on to say.

As the media continues to push the narrative that such a policy is inspired by racism, the group’s message went on to express sympathy for many Haitian immigrants. “We have genuine compassion for the families whose lives will be affected. Many came here believing promises made by politicians, but political promises have never been a substitute for the law,” the message continued, according to Breitbart News.

“We take no joy in seeing anyone face uncertainty, but neither can we continue pretending that enforcing the law is somehow unjust. A nation without the rule of law is a nation without equal justice,” it added. As of this writing, the mainstream media has largely ignored the group, despite the fact left-leaning news outlets continue to publish numerous articles attacking the policy, which is the fulfillment of a promise made by President Trump on the campaign trail in 2024.

As we’ve all come to expect, the media’s articles say the policy is racist and present the priorities of pro-migration politicians, employers, and migrants, while ignoring the concerns of everyday American citizens. One example is a recent headline from The Washington Post that read, “Fear grips Haitian communities after Supreme Court ruling unwinds protection from deportation.”

Another reads, “Nursing homes, factory owners, and immigrants brace for fallout from Supreme Court ruling.” A third says, “The Supreme Court lets the Trump administration end legal protections for Haitians and Syrians.” The Post is hardly the only publication trying to spin the narrative to make Republicans and conservatives look like the bad guys following the SCOTUS decision.

The Boston Globe featured a headline that read, “More than 10,000 Haitian workers in Mass. will lose immigration protections, a move that could ‘decimate’ industries.” Contrast that with the take of the citizens’ group from Springfield who said, “We also encourage clergy, advocacy groups, and well-meaning supporters to understand the legal consequences of harboring individuals who are unlawfully present in the United States.”

“The greatest act of compassion now is to help those affected comply with the law, depart peacefully if required, and, where eligible, pursue legal avenues to return in the future. In the end, the real prize isn’t that one side won and another lost. The real prize is restoring respect for the rule of law. Compassion and the rule of law are not enemies — they belong together,” the statement continued.

“When laws are applied equally, everyone knows where they stand. That’s how trust is rebuilt, communities heal, and America remains a nation governed by laws instead of politics. That’s the victory we’re celebrating,” the group said. “Hopefully, the Haitians can go home and work to make Haiti a great place to live and thrive,” one of the group’s members, Terry Adkins, told Breitbart.
