Residents of Mamdani’s New York City Sound Off after Garbage Starts Piling Up in a Major Way

After a dramatic winter storm dumped over a foot of snow on the city, New York City residents face uncollected trash piles, some towering higher than cars, amid delayed sanitation services prioritizing snow removal. For example, some Upper East Side locals report rat-infested garbage, embarrassing conditions for visitors, and disgust at the “gross” buildup over a week or more.

Notably, famous actor Michael Rapaport highlighted cars buried in filthy snow. The Department of Sanitation urged patience, noting limited collections focus on trash and compost while running hundreds of trucks alongside snow ops.

“This poor bastard ain’t getting out until the Spring,” said Michael Rapaport, in a viral video posted on X describing a car trapped by mounds upon mounds of filthy snow that did indeed look like it wouldn’t be melting any time soon. A New Yorker noted that the snow was “higher than a car,” while also pointing to the trash blanketing the city.

“It’s very dirty,” stated Frederick Radie, 55, “Actually, we have people visiting, and it’s a little embarrassing.” The 35-year resident explained that the city had become an embarrassment and that he was ashamed to host guests.

“This was like two weeks ago,” explained Mirys Rosa, 61, also noting that the trash buildup was “so gross, it’s disgusting.” She also blasted Mamdani, the self-described socialist mayor, for failing to address the issue in a timely manner.

Another New Yorker, Chris Kendal, 38, quipped, “It’s very concerning.” He added, “They usually pick the recycling up on a Monday, so it’s Saturday, so it’s almost been a week. I don’t know why they can’t pick it up. I mean, buses are still running, and the city is still operating. So, I’m not sure why they’re not able to reduce some of the garbage on the streets.”

Defending themselves, the Department of Sanitation shared an update on X. “Limited collection is underway. Our priority is collecting trash and compost, and it’s ok to put that material at the curb following your normal schedule. If possible, please hold your paper and metal/glass/plastic/carton recycling. Please understand collection will be delayed during ongoing snow operations,” the bureaucrats noted.

Additionally, the department stated, “We are prioritizing trash and composting (the stuff that gets gross), but New Yorkers can follow their regular schedule,” a spokesperson said. “We are running hundreds of collection trucks each day in addition to ongoing snow operations. We just ask for patience as we catch up.”

Actor Michael Rapaport noted, “A week after the snowstorm and this is what we got Zoron the Shoveler! Filthy black snow, garbage soup, ice rinks on every corner, cars buried like fossils. People slipping, breaking ankles, nobody shoveling, nobody salting, nobody doing SH*T.”

    Watch the snow disaster here:

“This is New York City. Three minutes from the mayor’s house. Start spreading the news… this place is a dirty snow covered dump. Clean it the f*** up, Mayor,” the same message read, calling out the irritating New York Democrat for letting the city turn into a total wreck within mere weeks of taking office.

Another angry conservative reacted, “One week after a major snowstorm, and socialist Democrat Zohran Mamdani’s NYC has already transformed into a 3rd world country with garbage piled everywhere. What did voters think they were going to get?”
