“Rescind It”: Bannon Exposes How Trump Could Revoke Highest Civilian Honor Biden Gave Soros

Speaking during a recent episode of his “War Room” podcast, former Trump White House Chief Advisor Steve Bannon explained how President Trump could yank away the award that President Joe Biden gave to billionaire and financier of leftist causes George Soros, saying that the President-elect could, with an executive order, simply rescind it.

As background, the much-detested (by the right) George Soros was one of 19 total recipients of what is America’s highest civilian honor, the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Including alongside Soros were failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, actor Michael J. Fox, children’s science presenter and climate activist Bill Nye, and Magic Johnson, amongst others.

The White House statement announcing Biden had named Soros a recipient said, “George Soros is an investor, philanthropist, and founder of the Open Society Foundations. Through his network of foundations, partners and projects in more than 120 countries, Soros has focused on global initiatives that strengthen democracy, human rights, education, and social justice.”

Bannon, commenting on how Trump could fight back against what many see as an abuse of the award and a disgraceful award of it to an undeserving person, said, “My recommendation to President Trump is that you notify today that you’re going to sign an executive order on Monday, one of the very first actions, is to rescind the Presidential Medal of Freedom that’s being given to George Soros today. Rescind it.”

Continuing, Bannon didn’t hesitate in going on the virulent attack against Soros himself, saying, “It is a disgrace that a demonic individual like that has gone out of his way to try to destroy this country, destroy this country, would actually be given to mock this constitutional republic, to mock this constitutional republic, which he hates and is dedicated his life to destroying, that we would be presenting him, awarding him the highest civilian honor that you could give.”

Then, getting to describing how Trump could rescind the award as soon as he is sworn in as president, Soros said, “President Trump today ought to come out and say, ‘hey I’m putting out an executive order right after I take my hand off the King James.’ With everything else we got to do all stuff either number number one is going to be rescinding sources as a symbol. Rescind it.” Watch Bannon describe what could be done here:

George Soros, for his part, released an Open Society Foundations press release in which he said, “As an immigrant who found freedom and prosperity in America, I am deeply moved by this honor. I accept it on behalf of the many people around the world with whom the Open Society Foundations have made common cause over the past 40 years.”

Alex Soros, his son and the one who accepted the medal on his behalf, said, in a statement to Newsweek, “My father is an American hero and has long been a champion of freedom. His formative experiences made him a lifelong champion of the values of open society in the US and around the world. He has always been ahead of the curve in supporting what is most needed to strengthen freedom in society. No one is more deserving of this honor.”
