Republicans have recently drawn articles of impeachment against President Biden over his decision to withhold Israeli aid. The move announced on Thursday by Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) suggests that Biden’s actions were motivated by political reasons.
The GOP alleges that Biden prevented weapons from being delivered to Israel out of fear of political fallout from anti-Israel Democratic voters. The Democratic Party appears to be divided between moderates, who generally support Israel and its actions against Hamas, and a starkly pro-Palestine demographic that has called on Biden to take a stance against Israel.
“The House has no choice but to impeach President ‘Quid pro Joe’ Biden. As Vice President, Biden was caught threatening to withhold funding and aid to Ukraine unless they fired the attorney general investigating Burisma, a company financially benefiting his son Hunter, not to mention the 10% share for ‘the big guy’ himself,” Rep. Mills said.
Mills added, “Now, Joe Biden is pressuring Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, by pausing their funding that has already been approved in the House, if they don’t stop all operations with Hamas. It’s a very clear message, ‘this for that.’”
Many have pointed out that Democrats accused former President Donald Trump in 2019 of the same “quid pro quo” conduct when withholding military aid from Ukraine for alleged political reasons. The left used this as grounds for an impeachment effort against Trump.
“These are the same accusations made against President Trump, which resulted in his impeachment by Democrats. The same must happen for Joe Biden, which is why we’re drawing up articles of impeachment now,” Mills finished.
Biden previously noted that the U.S. would continue to provide support for Israel in a CNN interview. However, the president stated “if they go into Rafah, I’m not supplying the weapons that have been used historically to deal with Rafah, to deal with the cities, that deal with that problem.”
Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) sounded off on Biden, urging the House to open an impeachment inquiry into the president. According to Clyde, Biden’s motivations were centered around appeasing the “radical leftists” and Hamas sympathizers.”
“Given Democrats’ Trump-Ukraine precedent, President Biden’s decision to withhold lethal aid to our ally, Israel, for political gain is undoubtedly an impeachable offense. Clearly, the nefarious motive behind our commander in chief’s move to condition U.S. aid to Israel is to appease radical leftists and Hamas sympathizers ahead of the 2024 election,” Clyde said. “The House must immediately open an impeachment inquiry due to the president’s disastrous decision to play politics with national security.”
Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) weighed in on the issue, stating, “The Democrats made their bed, and now they’re [lying] in it. This is just the latest on a long list of reasons to impeach Biden, including the deadline withdrawal in Afghanistan and allowing more than 9 million illegal immigrants to invade our southern border.”
Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) wrote on X that the House has “no choice” but to mover forward with a Biden impeachment “The House has no choice but to impeach Biden based on the Trump-Ukraine precedent of withholding foreign aid to help with reelection,” Cotton said. “Only with Biden, it’s true.”
