Republican Rep Demands Answers after Blinken’s State Department Host “Cry Session,” Therapy For Employees Following Trump Victory

Rep. Darrel Issa, a Republican Congressman from California, has fired off a strong letter to United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken over alleged therapy sessions that the U.S. State Department is alleged to have held for employees after Donald Trump won the 2024 presidential election.

One of the emails to State Department employees that sparked Rep. Issa’s letter said, “Change is a constant in our lives, but it can often bring about stress and uncertainty. Join us for an insightful webinar where we delve into effective stress management techniques to help you navigate these challenging times. This session will provide tips and practical strategies for managing stress and maintaining your well being.”

In a letter to Blinken obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, Issa criticized the alleged therapy sessions, writing “I am concerned that the Department is catering to federal employees who are personally devastated by the normal functioning of American democracy through the provision of government-funded mental health counseling because Kamala Harris was not elected President of the United States.” The Free Beacon also reported that the State Department was hosting “cry sessions” for employees upset about the election.

He further added, commenting on what it shows that the department would be affected in such a manner by an election going a certain way, saying, “It is disturbing that ostensibly nonpartisan government officials would suffer a personal meltdown over the results of a free and fair election, something the United States champions around the world.”

That’s not all. Rep. Issa also commented on the matter in a post to X (formerly Twitter), in which he called out how inappropriate it is that the State Department is using tax dollars to cheer up its employees after an election, saying, “The State Department is using taxpayer funds to provide post-election therapy sessions for employees. End this.”

Replying to his post, a commenter noted how ridiculous the situation would be in the real world, saying, “I can’t imagine an employee coming to me and saying they can’t function because KH lost an election, or because DJT won. I would blink a couple of times and say sorry, but you will need to get back to work and deal with it on your own time.”

Another commenter on Rep. Issa’s post joked that Trump can go ahead and put those who are upset out of their misery by firing them, posting, “We’d like a list of names who are suffering. We’ll let them go to end their misery. Not to worry, they can learn coding.” And, commenting on State Department lies, John Wheeler, an Iraq War veteran, said, “Nice to see the state department hasn’t changed. Still waiting on that “civilian surge” I was promised in Iraq😂.”

Still another commenter chimed in and noted that this sort of pearl-clutching about Trump doesn’t bode well for State Department effectiveness abroad, saying, “If these so called open minded people can’t stand the results of an election in our country, how in this world on this planet are they going to deal with anyone wanting to not deal with them?”
