Trump-backed Montana Senate candidate Tim Sheehy has successfully defeated longtime incumbent Democrat Sen. John Tester (D-MT). Following a slew of wins across the nation, the GOP has flipped the Senate, where numerous decisive wins, such as the Montana race, have helped rebalance Congressional power in Washington. When former President Donald Trump returns to the Oval Office, it appears that he will be handed a trifecta of power, with both chambers of Congress majority Republican.
The Associated Press called the race for Sheehy early Wednesday morning just before 6:40 a.m. ET. Sheehy had attained 53 percent of the vote compared to Tester’s 45 percent, when 85 percent of the total vote had been counted. Sheehy’s decisive victory over the incumbent Democrat highlights how many voters across the U.S. voted Republican down-ballot, further demonstrating what some have described as political realignment.
Sheehy took to X, celebrating his victory. “THANK YOU, MONTANA!!” he wrote, elated after winning the race. “We The People made our voices heard, we completed our mission, and now we will secure our children’s future and save America together!!” the incoming senator added, vowing to represent the interests of his constituents when he heads to Washington.
President-elect Donald Trump congratulated Sheehy, who is an accomplished businessman who founded the aerial fire-fighting company Bridger Aerospace. Trump said, “Tim Sheehy is an American Hero and highly successful Businessman from the Great State of Montana. He is strongly supported by our incredible Chairman of the NRSC, Steve Daines, and many other patriotic Senators and Republicans who have endorsed our Campaign to, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”
Sheehy extended his gratitude toward the 47th president after the heartfelt congratulations, stating, “Well, first of all, of course, it’s a great honor to have President Trump’s endorsement. We’ve been supportive of him since even before the campaign started. We’ve been very vocal about our support of the America First policies and agenda, which he skillfully enacted during his time in the White House.”
Users on social media reacted to the victory, applauding Sheehy and dispelling the criticism that has been hurled at him from the left. “Well done sir! The leftwing lies and many millions spent were going to trick Montana into voting for someone who sided with Biden 95% of the time! You’re going to do great work in the senate! May The Lord continue to bless you and your family!” one person commented on X.
“Please be a conservative thoughtful senator! The sneer against you was so terrible! Please keep in mind what Montana has been! Populated with very hard working Americans, we have lived in Montana for generations! Thank you,” another person said, calling on Sheehy to remembers Montanans when he votes in D.C.
Another wrote, “Fandamtastic!! Montana now has a servant of the people who’s been tested under fire and understands the awesome responsibility of his Office. Just a small favor; give ole Schumer a little peck on his left cheek and then give him a wink courtesy of the citizens of Montana!”
