President Donald Trump and his administration are having a huge positive impact on the crime waves that have swept across major American cities, according to new reports on crime statistics, bringing down rates that had their genesis during the administrations of former Presidents Joe Biden and Barack Obama. “U.S. murders on pace for largest one-year drop on record,” a report from Axios revealed.
The data comes from the Real-Time Crime Index, which collected the information from 570 law enforcement agencies from around the nation. The site reveals that there were a total of 7,300 homicides during the 12-month period leading up to October 2025. In the 12-month period leading up to May 2020 and the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, there were 8,852 murders, which is a significant decrease.
Over the following year, the murder rate skyrocketed to 12,000 following the Black Lives Matter protests that saw demonstrators taking to the streets of major cities, burning businesses and neighborhoods to the ground, and horrendous violence of all kinds perpetrated supposedly in the name of racial equality and resistance to police brutality.
According to Breitbart, the murder rate under the leadership of President Trump’s is now below the 8,192 that took place a year before April 2019. The report noted that the efforts of the current administration have saved the lives of thousands of Americans compared to both Obama and Biden, who, the article claims, ushered in the crime wave before the 2014 mid-term election by backing claims that police officers were using deadly force en masse against African-Americans.
However, the emphasis of the Trump administration on restoring law and order to the country, coupled with his nationwide crackdown on illegal immigration, has not only lowered the murder rate, but decreased the number of auto thefts by close to 25%. The murder rate has dropped 20%, robbery by 18%, burglary by 15%, and violent crime by 10%. Homicide numbers are now back to levels they were in the 1960s, which saw a crime explosion.
Since first taking office in January 2025, President Trump’s deputies have taken into custody and successfully deported close to 600,000 illegal migrants, many of them with lengthy rap sheets. The Department of Homeland Security has also offered a number of benefits, including $3,000 cash, to illegal immigrants who would self-deport.
President Trump, celebrating the victory against crime, amongst other things, in a post on Truth Social, said, “Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum that is doing everything possible to destroy our Country, but are failing badly. We no longer have Open Borders, Men in Women’s Sports, Transgender for Everyone, or Weak Law Enforcement. What we do have is a Record Stock Market and 401K’s, Lowest Crime numbers in decades, No Inflation, and yesterday, a 4.3 GDP, two points better than expected.
