According to recent reports, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz allowed fraud to run rampant under his administration with little to no accountability. A report from CNN was released earlier this week uncovering widespread fraud within the Minnesota government under Walz, who has allegedly done little to stop the conduct.
The report from the left-leaning news outlet detailed a variety of fraudulent activity surrounding pandemic relief funds for frontline workers and residents in need. Previous reports had already shed light on what has been the nation’s “largest” pandemic fraud scheme that occurred under his watch when the Feeding Our Future (FOF) nonprofit organization scammed the government under the guise of feeding children in need.
CNN discovered that Walz and his administration’s leadership had been confronted with numerous examples of fraud and other concerning conduct only to downplay the allegations. Furthermore, CNN reported that Walz was highly dismissive toward Minnesota’s nonpartisan auditor, Judy Randall. According to Randall, there was a “shoot the messenger” feeling when Walz’s agencies responded to the audits.
Moreover, reports indicate that Walz has refrained from holding anyone accountable for the misconduct. Minnesota state House GOP leader Lisa Demuth, stated, “When he is not holding any commissioners responsible, then yes, Governor Walz is responsible for the fraud that has been ongoing in the state of Minnesota,” said “It falls squarely on his shoulders.”
Republican vice chair of the state’s bipartisan legislative audit commission, Mark Koran, said, “The governor’s appointees across the board at almost all agencies have been hostile and uncooperative when citizens are seeking transparency and oversight through the legislative auditor.”
The report is troubling for the Kamala Harris’ vice presidential pick, as he already faces considerable scrutiny into other details of his political career and personal life, where he has been accused of lying about his military service and other supposed accomplishments.
The American Tribune recently reported on the House Committee on Education and the Workforce hitting Tim Walz with a subpoena over the allegations surrounding the massive fraud with the Feed Our Future Scandal (FOF), where the nonprofit was given approximately $250 million in taxpayer funds after providing falsified figures to the Department of Education.
“The U.S. House Committee on Education and the Workforce (Committee) is engaged in ongoing oversight of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) and the Minnesota Department of Education’s (DE) administration of federal child nutrition programs (FCNP) and Feeding Our Future (FOF),” the letter from the committee began.
“As the chief executive and the highest ranking official in the state of Minnesota, you are responsible for the MDE and its administration of FCNPs. Article V Section 3 of the Constitution of the State of Minnesota which lays out the powers and duties of the governor, states in part that the governor “may require the opinion in writing of the principal officer in each of the executive departments upon any subject relating to his duties,” and “he shall take care that the laws be
faithfully executed,” the subpoena continued.
