Fox News Digital obtained footage out of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez’s district in New York City, and what that footage shows isn’t pretty. In fact, what it shows is streets overflowing with trash and street vendors desperately hawking their wares as street prostitutes proposition passers-by, including teenage boys, in broad daylight.
As background, Rep. AOC represents New York’s 14th district, which includes parts of the Bronx and Queens. The video of her district that emerged comes from a once-vibrant section of northwestern Queens, a community composed of portions of the neighborhoods of Corona, Jackson Heights, and Elmhurst. The formerly nice neighborhoods are, in the footage, seen to be overflowing with trash, leading to “unsavory and unhygienic conditions,” as Fox News reported.
Describing the shocking situation in the community, Fox News Digital reported that, far from being a “thriving American neighborhood,” the scene out of it was “more like a Third World country.” The Third World-like aspects of AOC’s district, Fox New Digital reported, included this portrait of a sad scene: “desperate migrants block up sidewalks selling food and shilling clothing items while prostitutes openly solicit sex from passersby — reportedly including teens.”
After explaining that there is so much trash on street corners that it is turning the section of the city into an unhygienic nightmare, Fox News Digital added more details on the horrifying prostitution situation. it noted that one strip in particular, the Roosevelt Avenue area, is called “the market of sweethearts” because of how prevalent prostitution is. In fact, it’s so popular and known for omnipresent prostitution that videos online have gone viral explaining how to make use of the “services” available for hire there.
That situation has led to a wild scene where street vendors hawk piles of goods, everything from pans to clothes, as onlookers mill around and prostitutes lead johns to makeshift brothels right off the side of the street. All of that illegal activity takes place, photos and videos of it appear to show, without law enforcement even attempting to shut it down.
One local, a 43-year-old man, commented to Fox News Digital on the situation in the neighborhood, particularly the tax-dodging street vendors. He said, “Like most of my like-minded residents, we see this as a third-world market. Basically, you just see clothes thrown across the floor … the items are stolen from donation bins or stolen from stores, and they just set up shop outside brick-and-mortar businesses. They take away trade from these businesses and don’t pay taxes.” He added, “There are no repercussions; they get a free pass.”
Commenting on the equally brazen prostitutes, Frias said, “They do whatever they please, they are open about it and not discreet. They line up all along 90th street in front of a pizzeria, a 99-cent store and just try to pull men. You’ll see multiple women in scantily clad clothing. Now it’s cold, they are a bit covered up, but it will get worse in the summer.”
