UPDATE: He later backtracked on Twitter, saying, “After much reflection, I’d like to express my deepest apologies to anyone that I may have hurt with my comments on parenting and gender identity. I’ve always been an advocate for love and inclusivity in the LGBTQI+ community, so I understand how my comments could’ve been interpreted as insersitive and offensive. Gender identity is nuanced and I can honestly admit that I plan to better educate myself on the topic, so I can approach future conversations with more empathy At the end of the day, I lead with love and support everyone’s freedom of expression and pursuit of happiness.”
Superstar rapper Ne-Yo shared a harsh critique of parents who allow their kids to change genders. The rapper believes that parents who are allowing their young children to transition have completely forgotten their role as a parent. Ne-Yo is joining rapper Ice Cube as yet another rap artist to speak out against the ideals of the liberal left.
Ne-Yo spoke on the VladTV show with Gloria Velez and was asked about his views on the transgender debate during the episode. He didn’t mince his words when talking about the errors that parents make when they allow their kids to indulge in transgender desires.
“Parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is,” Ne-Yo said. “It’s like, okay, if your little boy comes to you and says, ‘Daddy, I want to be a girl.’ And you just let him rock with that? You just let; he’s five.”
Ne-Yo goes on to discuss the common talking point that many voices of reason on the right echo. When a child comes to their parents with a desire, it is the parent’s duty to be a voice of reason and keep their kids from making rash decisions. “If you let this five-year-old boy decide to eat candy all day, he’s going to do that,” Ne-Yo elaborated. “Like when did it become a good idea to let a five-year-old, let a six-year-old, let a 12-year-old make a life-changing decision for they self? When did that happen? Like, I don’t understand that. I don’t get that.”
The rapper continued to talk about what really makes a child a boy or a girl. To him, and many others, it has nothing to do with the toys they play with or the colors that they prefer. “What is he gonna do? He’s gonna say well, he might want to play with dolls. All right, you want to play with dolls? Fine play with dolls but you’re a boy. I wanna wear pink.’ All right cool, wear pink, but you’re a boy wearing pink.”
Ne-Yo explained, “I have no issue with the L-,B-,G-, I have no problem with none of y’all, with nobody. I just personally come from an era where a man was a man and a woman was a woman. And it wasn’t but two genders and that’s just how I rocked it.”
He concluded his rant, saying, “Now you could identify as goldfish if you feel like it, that ain’t my business. It becomes my business when you try to make me play the game with you. I’m not going to call you a goldfish, but you want to be a goldfish you go be a goldfish. It’s just, we live in a weird time man.”
Ne-Yo blasts parents who let their children believe that they can pick whatever gender they want to be: “I feel like the parents have almost forgotten what the role of a parent is.
