A video clip of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) has resurfaced and is going viral, featuring the controversial “Squad” member getting into a heated exchange with a Fox News reporter after being asked to condemn chants of “death to America” at a rally held in her district. The clip, originally from 2024, is making waves around social media due to the FBI’s recent thwarting of an alleged ISIS connected terrorist attack in Dearborn, Michigan on Halloween.
In the video, as Tlaib is first being confronted, she fires back at the reporter saying, “I don’t talk to Fox News,” before going on to accuse the right-of-center news organization of using “racist tropes” and of being “Islamophobic.” On April 5, 2024, protesters held a rally in Dearborn, celebrating the International Day of Al-Quds, a rally held yearly in support of Palestine during the month of Ramadan.
The event took place outside the Henry Ford Centennial Library. As the demonstration unfolded, a group of attendees began to chant “death to America” and “death to Israel” in Arabic. A few days after the event, Fox Business reporter Hillary Vaughn confronted Tlaib as she was walking down a hallway inside the Capitol Hill complex, repeatedly asking the congresswoman about the protest and whether she would condemn the hateful slogans. Things got spicy from there.
Vaughn asked Tlaib, “At a rally in your district people were chanting ‘death to America’ do you condemn?” The Michigan Democrat replied, “I don’t talk to people that use racist tropes.” She followed up by saying, “Using racist tropes toward my community is what Fox News is about and I don’t talk to Fox News.”
Vaughn had a follow-up of her own, asking, “Is chanting death to America racist?” Talib, clearly flustered, replied, “I’m talking about your guys’ racist tropes. You guys know exactly what you do. I know you’re Islamophobic.” A clip of the incident was shared on social media platform X, to highlight the instability and negative influence that radical Islam is having on the Dearborn community under Tlaib’s leadership. Here’s some background for why the video is gaining traction again.

According to ABC News, FBI Director Kash Patel revealed the bureau managed to thwart a terrorist plot over Halloween weekend in Dearborn, Michigan, stating that several individuals had been arrested in connection with the incident. He then said the plot was connected to “international terrorism.”
The FBI leapt into action to prevent the plot from happening after several undercover operatives monitored online communications from several suspects in a group chat. The terrorists were going to carry out a deadly assault with firearms and had connections to a foreign terrorist group. Law enforcement authorities say the suspects participated in firearms training. They decided to take action when the suspects mentioned “pumpkin day,” which was believed to be a reference to Halloween.
Many believe Tlaib’s refusal to condemn violent rhetoric from the Islamic community in her district has emboldened radicals to go behind spouting popular protest slogans and to start putting them into action. One has to wonder where Tlaib’s allegiance truly lies if she refuses to stick up for the country she claims to serve?
