Head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk recently responded to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s scathing critique of his work in the Trump administration. Since stepping back into office last month, President Donald Trump has quickly implemented his agenda of downsizing the United States government and improving its efficiency.
Speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer argued that Americans should not be governed by an “un-elected secret group,” seemingly drawing parallels to conservative concerns about unelected bureaucrats and their outsized power in the government. Musk reacted to Schumer’s comments, stating the senator was upset that DOGE was “dismantling the radical-left shadow government” so publicly.
Schumer said, “The American people will not stand for an un-elected secret group to run rampant through the executive branch. Being innovative is good, but Mr. Musk, this isn’t a tech startup. These are public institutions. That deal with Social Security and Medicare and national defense and provide for the well being of the American people.”
“And the American people have a right to be part of that debate,” the California Democrat emphasized. “Elections occurred, and once one viewpoint got a few more votes than the other. But that doesn’t mean we throw out democracy. That doesn’t mean what’s been done for centuries in this country should just go out the window and be substituted by a small group of people who think they know a lot more than the wisdom of the American people.”
Reacting to the video, Musk tweeted, “He’s mad that @DOGE is dismantling the radical-left shadow government in full view of the public. This is our ONE CHANCE to return POWER to the PEOPLE from an unelected BUREAUcracy back to DEMOcracy!! Only with the support of YOU can this succeed. Thank you, unknown soldiers.”
Musk’s comment was met with optimism from conservatives in the comments section, cheering on the aggressive execution of President Trump’s agenda. “Thank you so much for all that you do! I’ve never seen so much change, and so much optimism from myself, and every one else or at least the majority… so inspiring I’d volunteer to help in the fight; never had any interest in politics of government because of the obvious bullsh*t, but now it can be something we all can be proud of,” one person said, responding to Musk.
They continued in their lengthy comment, “A lot of us are starting to see the genius, others may take a while longer, yet there still may be some that may never fully grasp the magnitude and scope of all of this. Again, . Wish I could be there and stand beside you and the current administration…”. Numerous other comments echoed this sentiment.

We are watching, and the game is changing. No more unchecked bureaucracies—only accountability. The hashtag is for you because I know you love them!
