In a horrific attempt at a threat, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) cautioned foreign leaders, specifically El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele, against cooperating with President Trump’s deportation policies, threatening reprisals when Democrats regain power. Specifically, he criticised Trump’s use of the Alien Enemies Act to deport MS-13 members to El Salvador.
For context, when the news of Raskin’s remarks concerning the so-called “gangster state” broke on social media, conservatives were immediately taken aback. When a collection of his quotes was posted to social media, conservatives immediately pounced on his insane comments.
In any case, Raskin began his threats with a warning about what would happen when Democrats returned to power. “Implicit in it should be the idea that if and when we come back to power — and we will — we are not going to look kindly upon people who … facilitated authoritarianism in our country,” the New Jersey Democrat stated.
Taking aim at the highly successful foreign leader, he whined, “The whole idea that Bukele doesn’t have any power to return an American prisoner who was sent to him under an agreement where he’s getting paid $6 million by America is ridiculous. He’s our legal agent in this dubious arrangement they created. Of course, he’s got the power to return them.”
Still not done, he made a series of overwrought, tired woke complaints about America. Raskin claimed, “We’re living in something like a gangster state right now.” Additionally, he predicted, “We have to stop that, obviously, to prevent a slide into complete dictatorship.”
Bringing his comments to a close, Raskin suggested that Trump may be jailed, saying, “Donald Trump is a convicted criminal. Could he be sent off to a foreign prison?” Adding, “We’ve got to become the leaders of a nationwide popular movement to arrest the descent into fascism in America.”
When an article containing these words was posted to social media, conservatives were immediately enraged. “That is psychotic. People who think like Jamie Raskin want power for the wrong reasons. Our Government is supposed to do what is best for the people. Not wield their power like a sword to pursue a political vendetta. Raskin should be nowhere near the levers of power,” one user noted.

Replying to the last post, one conservative woman blasted Raskin, saying, “That’s psychotic cause
@RepRaskin is psychotic ..they’re all psychotic , none of them should be in office right now and most of them should be in prison …”
Clearly annoyed, many users pointed out the apparent hypocrisy. “You guys impeached Trump twice for strictly political reasons and endorsed, donated and prosecuted countless phony lawfare suits at him. You’re just Looney Tunes at this point,” one commentator declared. Building on this point, another added, “Imagine Republicans saying this when Dems were in control. This sounds like a huge law he’s breaking. When dems went after children republicans didn’t even do this.”
Concluding the comments, a conservative stated, “This is treason. A member of our own government directly threatening our allies for supporting our own government, who was legally and democratically elected by a majority. If congress does not expel him there is not justice. This is a line that cannot be crossed.”
