Prominent Former Democrat Member of Congress Hops on the Trump Train, Endorses Him [WATCH]

Former Democratic Representative Tulsi Gabbard recently endorsed former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential race.  After voicing substantial criticism toward the Democratic Party, Gabbard switched her affiliation to become an Independent.  Along with RFK Jr., Gabbard is the latest ex-Democrat to be added to Trump’s transition team.

Speaking alongside former President Trump at the National Guard Association conference, Gabbard offered her endorsement of the Republican Presidential Candidate.  The former Democrat illustrated that the world is closer “to the brink of nuclear war than we ever have been before,” before emphasizing Trump’s record on foreign policy as a primary reason for supporting him.

Gabbard continued, “This is one of the main reasons why I’m committed to doing all that I can to send President Trump back to the White House, where he can once again serve us as our commander-in-chief. I i
Because I am confident that his first task will be to do the work to walk us back from the brink of war. We cannot be prosperous unless we are at peace.”

Focusing on the domestic threats posed by the government, Gabbard added, “And we can’t live free as long as we have a government that is retaliating against its political opponents and undermining our civil liberties, weaponizing our very institutions, against those they deem as a threat. Kamala Harris has done this over the last three and a half years. She won’t hesitate to continue that if she is elected as president.”

The American Tribune recently reported on other news regarding Gabbard’s involvement in the Trump campaign.  Trump’s team recently brought on the former Hawaii representative to help prepare the former president for his upcoming debates against Vice President Kamala Harris.  Gabbard previously roasted Harris in the 2019 Democratic primary debates, calling out the then-senator for her record on criminal justice.

Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said, “[Trump has] proven to be one of the best debaters in political history as evidenced by his knockout blow to Joe Biden.”  She continued, “He does not need traditional debate prep but will continue to meet with respected policy advisers and effective communicators like Tulsi Gabbard, who successfully dominated Kamala Harris on the debate stage in 2020.”

During the 2019 Democratic primary debate, Gabbard said, “Senator Harris says she’s proud of her record as a prosecutor and that she’ll be a prosecutor president, but I’m deeply concerned about this record.  There are too many examples to cite, but she put over 1,500 people in jail for marijuana violations and then laughed about it when she was asked if she ever smoked marijuana.”

She continued sounding off on Harris’ record, stating, “She blocked evidence that would have freed an innocent man from death row until the courts forced her to do so.  She kept people in prison beyond their sentences to use them as cheap labor for the state of California and she fought to keep cash bail system in place that impacts poor people in the worst kind of way.”
