The results of a recent poll indicate that half of Vice President Kamala Harris’ supporters want to relocate the country after President-elect Donald Trump’s monumental victory last week. According to a survey orchestrated by StorateUnits.com, over 50 percent of Harris voters say they want to flee their present location Harris’ defeat.
Reportedly, over 1,800 Harris supporters were polled on November 6 on how seriously they would like to move and their top concerns. The results showed that 44 percent would like to move but probably wouldn’t, while 5 percent said they would definitely move and another 5 percent said they probably would.
Those who would likely stay cited reasons such as personal finances and community as motivations to prevent them from moving. However, of those who expressed a serious intention to relocate, 90 percent indicated an interest in fleeing the country and moving to a foreign nation such as the U.K., Mexico, or Canada. The movers who wanted to stay within the U.S. voiced a desire to move to liberal states like California and New York.
“Some Harris voters who are experiencing fear, anxiety, and concern following the election results may elect to shift from a red to a blue state with friendlier LGBTQ+ and/or less restrictive abortion laws. However, there are a number of factors influencing any potential moves, such as cost of living, job availability, and housing prices,” Realtor Jo Ann Bauer explained to Storage Units.
Realtor.com® senior economic research analyst Hannah Jones weighed in on the sentiment, stating, “A significant portion of Americans desire to be aligned politically with people in their area, especially those who are politically active. As politics takes center stage over the next week, homeowners may be considering the impact of the both local and national election outcomes on their day-to-day.
“The division within the United States has become increasingly pronounced in recent years,” according to estate expert James Heartquist in the survey results. “This polarization is evident in the way people are aligning themselves with political ideologies, often to the extent of considering relocation. This polarization is not just a political phenomenon but also a social one, affecting how communities interact and how individuals perceive their place within the country.”
Shortly after the election, reports began to surface that there was a surge in Google searches for information on “how to move to Canada,” demonstrating that many liberals have a desire to flee the country as Donald Trump prepares to return to the Oval Office in early 2025. The American Tribune reported:
Reportedly, the number of Google searches for advice on how to relocate to Canada increased by 400 percent day-over-day after the election in blue states such as Vermont, Maine, Oregon, and New Hampshire. Notably, Minnesota, Tim Walz’s home state, came in fifth place on that list. The Google searches mirrored the reaction to Trump’s 2016 victory where many celebrities maintained they would leave the U.S.
Despite the bold claims surfacing after last week that some will flee the country, it is too be determined if they will actually follow through. Following Trump’s victory in 2016, many leftists publicly vowed to leave the United States but never actually did. Time will tell if the current alarmism surrounding Trump’s return to the White House will subside.
