As the Biden document scandal continues to simmer, most Republicans are using it as a convenient avenue by which to attack President Joe Biden. Comer and Jordan are calling for investigations, Hunter Biden keeps getting dragged back into things, and it is, at the very least, making Biden look bad.
And so, of course, Fox News Channel’s resident leftist, Geraldo Rivera, stood up for Hunter Biden during Wednesday’s episode of “The Five.” On that episode, Geraldo, bickering with FNC’s immensley popular Greg Gutfeld, called the Biden document scandal a “phony scandal” and said “there is absolutely no there there.”
That began with Gutfeld pressing him on the issue and what might be going on behind the scenes with it, saying “Connect the dots. This is an incredibly timely scandal when he decides to run for reelection. Which member of the deep state and setting them up? The same people that went after Trump or Nixon?”
Replying, Rivera said, “Maybe, maybe it was them. This is the incredible shrinking scandal. As I’ve said, there is absolutely no there there. We have been talking about this around and around and around, and now Vice President Pence, of course, famously is involved in the so-called scandal. This is totally political retribution.”
Gutfeld, replying to Rivera and asking who wanted retribution asked, “But from whom? But from whom?”
Rivera then said, “Republicans,” to which Gutfeld replied by saying “Really, how did the Republicans know the stuff?”
Rivera then stood up to bat for Biden again, saying “Why is it, Greg, we are talking about a document scandal with zero evidence and national security has been compromised, and we are not talking about the Paycheck Protection Program and the billions of dollars that were wasted, squatted, stolen?”
Continuing, he said “Why don’t we go after something American people care about? This is the librarian scolding the people who kept the books overdue. It is nothing to do with anything in American life. Not one family watching this today is affected one iota by the phony scandal.”
But that wasn’t the only time on Wednesday that Geraldo made that point about the Biden documents scandal being a “phony scandal”. He did so again during an argument with Sean Hannity, as you can watch here:
As you can hear in the clip, Hannity blasted the death of equal justice under the law, saying:
I want to know why they found these documents on November 2nd and didn’t inform the public until 68 days later. In the interim, during that 68 day interval, they also set up a special prosecutor for Donald Trump, and they also went and visited the Penn Biden Center, and they didn’t tell anybody. You tell me if that sounds like equal justice and equal application of our laws, and whether or not you want Hunter Biden to have access to top secret classified information.”
Geraldo then did his typical thing and stood up for Biden, saying:
“That’s a different issue. The Hunter Biden story, that will work its way out. We are talking about this document scandal. This is a phony scandal, Sean. The documents at Mar-a-Lago was a phony raid. It had nothing to do with the American people. There is zero evidence that either President Biden or former President Trump did anything to compromise national security. People are obsessing over a story that does not matter.”
Hannity posted about that interview on Twitter and conservatives were, predictably, furious with Geraldo, saying things like:
“No one and I mean literally no in the entire nation cares what Geraldo has to say anything.”
“When FBI conducted an over- the- top raid on MAL, lights flashing and guns drawn, this was OK because it embarrassed Trump. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, even with a must gentler FBI footprint, Geraldo says, nothing to see here. Move on.”
“How does he ever get on TV?”
“Why does FOX news still have Geraldo around.he hasn’t been right about a thing in his life.”
