While many food shop employees get a bad rap, a pizza shop employee in Philadelphia went above and beyond the call of employment duty when a pair of armed robbers entered the pizza place and attempted to rob it, but were stymied in their attempt at predation by the armed pizza shop employee.
The armed employee apparently opened fire on both armed men, hitting both and mortally wounded one of them, after the alleged armed robbery attempt happened at around 8:00 in the evening on Saturday, October 4th. The mortally wounded suspect was shot multiple times in the torso and head and was pronounced dead at the scene by the police.
One witness to the incident, commenting on what he saw, said, “What I saw was a guy lying down on the ground. Blood. The owner’s son said he had to shoot him because the guy was shooting at him. Said he had to shoot back self-defense.”
The suspect who was not mortally wounded was able to flee the scene of the alleged attempted robbery on foot, and police said they are still searching for him and are using footage from nearby security cameras in an attempt to find him. Nothing was stolen from the pizzeria during the incident, and the employee was unharmed. The mortally wounded alleged armed robber was not identified by the police department, though the police did say they were able to recover both firearms at the scene of the attempted crime.
This incident comes hot on the heels of a series of other robbery incidents in Philadelphia. Asking for the public’s help in identifying the alleged looters in a separate incident, the police said, “The Philadelphia Police Department is seeking the public’s help identifying the individuals seen in the following video clips. Numerous individuals are wanted for the looting/theft at Foot Locker located at 1519 Chestnut Street that occurred on September 26, 2023, at 8:00pm.”

The police also asked for the public’s help in identifying two other suspects in a separate armed robbery, one that ended worse for the business involved than the pizza shop incident, as the employee apparently complied with the demands of the armed robbers.
The police, asking for the public’s help, wrote, “Central Detective Division is seeking the public’s help identifying the individuals seen in the following video clip. On October 31, 2023, at approximately 4:56pm, two unknown black males entered Joel’s Market at 3241 Ridge Avenue, pulled out handguns and demanded money from the cash register. After complying with the suspects demands giving them approximately $800, both suspects left the market in an unknown direction.”
Describing the suspects it is seeking the public’s help in identifying, the department wrote, “Suspect #1: Black male wearing all black clothing and red and black sneakers. Suspect #2: Black male wearing a black “Buruj Couture” hooded sweatshirt, black pants and gray and black “New Balance” sneakers.”
