The NFL season is over, as the Kansas City Chiefs and Travis Kelce brought home yet another Lombardi Trophy to the “Show Me” state. That means Kelce now has more time to devote to following Taylor Swift around the world as she continues her absurdly huge “Eras” tour. The worldwide phenomenon known as Taylor Swift has been in Australia performing, and Kelce, as expected, has been in the audience numerous nights.
However, what the couple has been doing off-stage has been under the microscope as well. Naturally, when you are arguably the hottest couple in the world, folks, including the media, are going to want to watch every move. Still, somehow, one organization managed to make the most innocuous date into an annoying headline.
PETA, the activist group that routinely disrupts fun events, traffic, and everyday life on behalf of animals, took Swift and Kelce to task for a day-date to the Sydney Zoo while Swift was there for her tour. PETA is well known for pouring cold water on fun events, and they didn’t spare the couple for checking out the animals at the Sydney Zoo.
Debbie Metzler, PETA Foundation’s Director of Captive Animal Welfare, said to tabloid site TMZ:” While we understand all too well the appeal of seeing Australia’s wildlife, PETA hopes that next time Taylor and Travis want to see wild animals, they’ll spend their time and money at a true sanctuary.” Apparently, the use of “All Too Well” by the PETA spokesperson was an attempt to pervert Swift’s lyrics against her.
It failed in hilarious fashion, like most of the organization’s stunts. The couple were spotted during a private tour provided by the zoo, which allowed the pair some privacy while they took in the sights. In a further attempt to kill the fun, Kelce and Swift also caught criticism for hand-feeding a young kangaroo during the visit. PETA attempted to point out that sanctuaries are preferable because you can’t touch or feed the animals. However, feeding a kangaroo sounds fun and harmless to everyone except the activists at PETA.
Swift pointed out Kelce during one of her recent Sydney performances, perhaps as a return of the gesture for Kelce pointing her out on the field. During the song “Willow,” Swift pointed to Kelce in the crowd as she sang, “I’m begging for you to take my hand, wreck my plans, that’s my man.” A bit nauseating, perhaps, but precisely what Swift fans wanted to see.
This isn’t the first run-in PETA has had with a Kansas City Chiefs player. Patrick Mahome’s wife Brittany was criticized by the organization in 2023 after posting pictures of herself swimming with dolphins in 2023. The leftist organization posted on her Instagram: “In the ocean, dolphins swim up to 60 miles each day, but when used for entertainment, they’re confined to small tanks or pools. Many dolphins develop painful conditions, such as stomach ulcers, and some die prematurely from the stress conditions of extreme captivity. Not to mention, many illnesses can be passed from dolphins to human visitors including viral, fungal and bacterial infections such as salmonella. These types of interactions are dangerous for them AND us.”
PETA will continue to spoil the fun for humans when it comes to animals, but it won’t stop folks from petting animals, going to zoos, and eating tasty cows and chickens. Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift deserve to be left alone, if just for one day, to feed a baby kangaroo and live like ordinary people without PETA sticking their collective noses in their business.
