Personal finance icon Dave Ramsey recently announced that he would be voting for former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election. Acknowledging the current polarization in American society, Ramsey refused to shy away from his personal beliefs, daring those who disagree with his endorsement to try and “cancel” him.
Explaining his view on the high-stakes presidential election, Ramsey explained that when looking at the most important issues, it is clear to him that former President Trump has the right answers. According to the personal finance guru, Trump checks all the boxes “very clearly” and “very quickly” when it comes to his policy stances on taxes, immigration, and more.
“I’m looking at ideas and which idea lands on which side of the aisle,” Ramsey said. “Where am I most likely to get a tax policy that I like? Where am I most likely to get an immigration policy I like? Where am I most likely to get a foreign policy I like? Where am I most likely to get a gun policy I like? A climate change policy I like? A woke policy I like? That I agree with.”
He continued, “And I can check those boxes very clearly, very quickly on these two candidate.” The co-host of “The Ramsey Show” added, “So I’m going to tell you, I’m voting for Donald Trump. Because I checked those boxes and more of them are on that side than the other.” Ramsey also noted that he is well-aware that some of his listeners may boycott him in retaliation to his endorsement.
Addressing a potential loss in viewership he said, “That’s okay. I can deal with that. That has happened to me for 30 years.” However, since he owns his and show, Ramsey pointed out that it would be impossible to cancel him. “People have threatened me like, ‘I’m going to cancel you.’ That’s hard to do. I own the show and so you’re not going to get to cancel me,” he explained. “So you can leave, but you can’t cancel me.”
The American Tribune recently reported on other comments from Ramsey explaining that how inflation has been a “legitimate problem for young Americans. He stated, “Their wages have not kept up with the house price increases, and for today, they’ve been boxed out of that housing market because it just took off. They have a lot of anxiety around that that is legitimate.”
However, Ramsey offered hope to the younger generation, encouraging them to maintain a long-term perspective. “Your life is not a snapshot. It’s a field. It’s a filmstrip. It’s going to be another frame, and another frame, and another frame, and another frame. And so as you go along, there’ll be a moment in time when this turns around in your favor and you’ll be okay.” He added, “You’re going to get there, but today it sucks.”
