Things did not go great for President Joe Biden when he visited Normandy for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day, as a string of gaffes and awkward moments lied the Republican National Committee (RNC) Research account on X, to post a slew of videos of him acting in an odd way and claim that he was, during the trip, in “a perpetual state of confusion.”
One of the videos of Biden that the RNC Research account drew attention to showed him arriving at Omaha Beach in Normandy, the scene of some of the day’s bloodiest fighting, and looking quite confused after stepping out of the presidential SUV. It was that video that the RNC Research account captioned by saying, “Biden arrives at Omaha Beach in his perpetual state of confusion.”
Commenting on the post, anti-Biden commenters said things like, “This is exactly why everyone calls him Dementia Joe” and “After Biden is out of the White House, we’ll get all the books from insiders saying, “Really, Biden had dementia so bad he barely knew where he was sometimes” like it’s a revelation everyone didn’t already know.”
Another commenter wrote, “Time to invoke the 25th [Amendment]” and “After today’s display in France it is evident that Joe Biden is no longer fit to be president of the United States. His cabinet must step in and remove him for his own good and the safety of America. This man is too far gone and this is now elder abuse.”

Then there was the video of Biden’s supposed “malfunction” during the D-Day ceremony alongside France’s Emmanuel Macron, during which the elderly president apparently thought he would sit in a chair but started sitting just too early, and so looked ridiculous in a half-sit, half-stand position with no chair below him. That video drew attention from the RNC Research account as well, which caused it “awkward.”

In addition to those very awkward moments, the elderly president made two big gaffes during his appearance. One came during his speech, he appeared to misspeak and claim that a whopping 350,000 Russian military personnel were killed by the Ukrainians, which is likely far more than have been the case and is well beyond most estimates.
He said, “We know the dark forces that these heroes fought against 80 years ago. They never fade. Aggression and greed, the desire to dominate and control, to change borders by force — these are perennial. And the struggle between a dictatorship and freedom is unending. Here, in Europe, we see one stark example. Ukraine has been invaded by a tyrant bent on domination. Ukrainians are fighting with extraordinary courage, suffering great losses, but never backing down. They’ve inflicted on the Russian aggressors — they’ve suffered tremendous losses, Russia. The numbers are staggering — 350,000 Russian troops dead or wounded. Nearly 1 million people have left Russia because they can no longer see a future in Russia.”
That wasn’t his only gaffe. In another, he told ABC journalist David Muir during an interview that he has known Russian President Vladimir Putin “for over 40 years,” which would mean until the early 1980s. That would be nearly impossible, as Putin served, Fox News Digital reports, “as an undercover KGB intelligence officer for the Soviet Union throughout the entire 1980s.” Biden said, in that gaffe, “I’ve known him for over 40 years. He’s concerned me for 40 years. He’s not a decent man.”
