In the Wednesday, December 4 broadcast of ABC’s “The View,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg, defender of the Hunter Biden pardon, got in a fiery fight with guest Charlamagne tha God sparred over President Joe Biden’s quite controversial decision to issue a blanket pardon his son, Hunter Biden’s, alleged criminal activity over the past ten years.
The somewhat surprising spat came when the various co-hosts argued over whether President Joe Biden’s decision had ceded the moral high ground in political spats that the Democrats tend to present themselves as occupying, with Whoopi jumping in and claiming that Biden did nothing wrong and merely changed his mind.
Charlmagne tha God, a Democrat podcaster, commented on the generally self-righteous position the left takes, saying, “I think all of the criticism is valid because, you know, Democrats stand on this moral high ground all the time. And, you know, they act so self-righteous.” He added, speaking of President Biden’s former pledge that he wouldn’t pardon Hunter, that he “didn’t have to volunteer that lie to begin with.”
That set off Whoopi. Angrily jumping in and cutting off his critique of Biden and his decision to pardon his son Hunter despite having previously pledged not to do so, she said that we don’t know “it was a lie” because he could have changed his mind. She said, “Only because you don’t know that it was a lie. We don’t know why he changed his mind.”
Charlamagne wasn’t having it. Firing back, he noted that it is ridiculous to think that the president just randomly changed his mind over Thanksgiving after previously having thought he wouldn’t pardon Hunter. He said, “You really think he just changed his mind over Thanksgiving weekend all of a sudden?”
Continuing, he argued that Democrats had brought scrutiny upon themselves by always claiming the moral high ground. He said, “That’s their fault. They’re the ones that go out there and they stand on this moral high ground. They don’t have to do that.” Whoopi snapped, “Tell me what the moral high ground is.” Responding, Charlamagne told her, “The moral high ground is nobody’s above the law!” Watch them bicker here:
Charlamagne wasn’t the only one with whom Whoopi argued. At one point, for example, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin chimed in and noted that Biden betrayed the stance Democrats ran on, which is that the courts can be trusted to deliver justice. “Joe Biden made a point of saying we stand by our institutions… Democrats ran on that. This same DOJ indicted Hunter Biden,” she opined.
Whoopi lost it and claimed that Biden is being unfairly singled out and criticized for a decision that others would not face such pushback and criticisms over. Framing the attacks on him as pearl-clutching, she snapped, “Can you explain to me why it is that when Joe Biden does something, everybody clutches their pearls?” Responding to her fury, Charlamagne jumped back in and asked, “Why can’t you say when Democrats are wrong? And why can’t Republicans say when Republicans are wrong?”
