“Party of Punching Puppies”: Democrats Vote against Deporting Migrants Who Hurt Police Dogs and Get Absolutely Skewered for It

Almost every single House Democrat voted against legislation on October 6, 2026, that would have allowed illegal aliens who were found guilty of abusing animals used in law enforcement to be deported. The legislation, known as the Bill to Outlaw Wounding of Official Working Animals Act, or BOWOW Act, passed through the House by a vote of 228-190.

Unlike Democrats, Republicans unanimously supported the new bill, though 15 Democrats did break ranks with their party to join the GOP, while 190 of them voted in opposition of the measure. Conservatives noted that it seems the supreme object of love and devotion for liberals are illegal immigrants, who many believe are being used by Democrats for their votes.

The Democrats who voted according to true standards of right and wrong, joining with Republicans in support of the BOWOW Act include: Reps. Henry Cuellar (Texas), Don Davis (N.C.), Sharice Davids (Kan.), John Garamendi (Calif.), Jared Golden (Maine), Vicente Gonzalez (Texas), Josh Gottheimer (N.J.), Greg Landsman (Ohio), Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Chrissy Houlahan (Pa.), Adam Gray (Calif.), Josh Riley (N.Y.), Eric Sorensen (Ill.), Tom Suozzi (N.Y.) and Eugene Vindman (Va.).

According to The Conservative Brief, the measure says that any non-citizen of the U.S. who is “convicted of, or who admits to having committed, an offense related to harming animals used in law enforcement is inadmissible and deportable.” House Speaker Mike Johnson obliterated Democrats who refused to support the bill in a brutal post on X.

“The Democrats just decided to officially become the party of PUNCHING PUPPIES,” Johnson wrote. “190 Democrats just voted to give illegal immigrants the RIGHT TO PHYSICALLY ABUSE American service dogs — serving with law enforcement protecting American citizens. The level Democrats will go to protect illegal aliens instead of Americans is disturbing, disgusting, and dangerous.”

“Harming a law enforcement working animal is appalling and evil,” Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID) went on to write in a post on X. “As a dog lover and someone who adamantly supports the working dogs who have served on the front lines, voting in favor of this bill was one of the easiest decisions of my congressional career.”

A bill that was introduced by Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA) comes after an incident in which an Egyptian national delivered a brutal kick to a dog used by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), leaving the animal with serious injuries. The suspect, Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie, 70, pleaded guilty to kicking Freddie, a beagle, after the dog alerted agents to potential contraband contained in his bag.

The incident unfolded at Washington Dulles International Airport. Freddie was thoroughly examined by a veterinarian who determined that the five-year-old dog suffered multiple contusions on his right rib area, according to information that was made public in a press release from Customs and Border Protection.

The Trump administration has also been pushing hard to preserve the integrity of American federal elections as the midterm elections continue to draw near. The SAVE America Act has been a major source of contention between Democrats, Republicans, and the GOP establishment. The bill would require all individuals seeking to register to vote to provide documentation proving they are valid U.S. citizens and would require those who desire to cast a ballot to provide a photo ID.
