Online Sleuth Discovers Blue City Paid Public School DEI Director More than the Governor as School Test Scores Plummet

Internet researchers discovered that Boston paid Dr. Charles Grandson, a DEI bureaucrat over $380,000 a year. Briana Wu, the mayor of Boston, is paid significantly less than the Strategy Officer at Boston Public Schools. Despite this high-paid position, Boston Public schools are beset by falling test scores.

The initial post, which was made to X on March 10, 2025, received a massive reaction. Online commentators were incensed by the obvious waste. Many of the replies expressed shock at how much the DEI official was paid, especially when considering the issues plaguing Boston City Schools. Others described their opinions on DEI positions.

A post was made to X which went viral. The popular post read, “DOGE Report: Boston taxpayers paid Dr. Charles Grandson $381,539 in 2023—more than the Governor! His title? Chief Equity & Strategy Officer at Boston Public Schools. All that money—while BPS test scores plummet and schools push DEI over math and reading.”

One user drew attention to the other wasteful programs in Boston municipal government. They revealed, “While we’re talking about Boston Public Schools, we should talk about the METCO program and how much $ goes into that. Why doesn’t Boston fix its neighborhood schools instead of bussing Boston kids to suburbs? How about fixing the problem-broken inner city public school systems.”

Another reply asked what Dr. Grandson does in his position. They asked, “Can anyone even describe in concrete, clear terms what his job responsibilities are? What outrageous, unvarnished grift. Imagine what scams would be uncovered by the audit demanded by 72% of MA voters which @RonMariano& c are illegally refusing to implement.”One joked, “Can only imagine what the Assistant DEI Officer makes.”

One user explains the absurd scale of this scam. The reply reads, “Okay. I said I wasn’t in favor of showing people’s names, only titles…unless it was a criminal issue. $381k might allow for an exception. Come on…that cannot be a real income.” One reply read, “Fire him now. And whoever hired him. And anyone who works with him.”Another user said, “Equity. Everyone sinks to the lowest common denominator.”

Another read, “Paying on person that much money as the governor complains about federal funding being cut, guess Massachusetts could use some redirection of funds just as much as the federal government can.” One comment said, “You can see how this far-left insanity quickly adds up to the millions and billions stolen from the taxpayers. Why do the dumb Bostonians keep electing neo-Marxist crooks, like Wu and her cohorts?”Another said, “POS thief! Charles Grandson!”

Another explained how Trump has made moves to end this endemic waste. The comment explained, “His job was simple. “Hire and accept more black employees and students to meet the DEI criteria. That asian and white person at the top of the class? They don’t qualify.” This is why Trump removed the discriminatory DEI practices.” One reply read, “all that money and Boston has LESS STUDENTS PERFORMING AT GRADE LEVEL than the state …”
