“Our democracy” doesn’t seem to be much of a “democracy.” For one, there are all those quotes and notes by the Founders about how it’s supposed to be a Republic…not a democracy. But, beyond that, now one of the two main parties is claiming that if you vote for the other party, then that’s a threat to “our democracy.”
Such is what Brandon said in a recent speech, declaring that Americans must not “allow the dark forces that thirst for power” to attack or chip away at “our democracy.”
In one part of the speech, for example, Biden characterized the GOP as a party of “election deniers,” saying:
“It’s estimated that more than 300 [GOP] election deniers are on the ballot all across America this year. This is not about me … It’s about the durability of our democracy.”
On the same note, Biden described Republicans as “un-American,” saying:
“As I stand here today, there are candidates running for every level of office in America – for governor, for Congress, for attorney general, for secretary of state who won’t commit to accepting the results of the elections they’re in. That is the path to chaos in America. It’s unprecedented. It’s unlawful. And it is un-American.”
He also, bizarrely, framed the GOP as the party of political violence:
“We’re facing a defining moment. We must with one overwhelming, unified voice speak, as a country and say there’s no place for voter intimidation or political violence in America.
[…]This violence against Democrats, Republicans, and nonpartisan officials just doing their jobs are the consequence of lies told for power and profit. Lies repeated over and over to generate a cycle of anger, hate, vitriol, and even violence. ”
Yeah, all those business owners who saw their livelihoods destroyed by BLM and Antifa-affiliated protesters during the “summer of love,” those cops who had to fight street battles with black-clad goons, Justice Kavanaugh, whose home was invaded by a man there to kill him as protesters surrounded the homes of conservative Supreme Court Justices, and Steve Scalise, shot by a crazed Bernie bro, all would probably disagree with that characterization of which party is the violent one.
Most telling of all, however, was Biden’s line that Trump is the main one attacking “our democracy,” with Biden saying:
“American democracy is under attack because the defeated former president … refuses to accept the will of the people.”
RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel blasted Brandon’s radical speech as an attempt to cover up for his inability to provide tolerable economic conditions for American families, saying:
“Joe Biden promised unity but has instead demonized and smeared Americans, while making life more expensive for all. While Republicans remain focused on the issues that matter most to voters, Biden and Democrats are flailing in the final days because they have lost touch with the concerns of families struggling to get by.”
So even in the last days before midterms, Democrats are hammering the “our democracy” drum, with Brandon not only joining in but also slandering his political enemies in a desperate attempt to make the American people vote for his side.
