“Not…Above the Law”: GOP Whip Explains Biden Impeachment Inquiry

The House GOP continues to make hay while the sun shines and squeeze the Biden Impeachment inquiry for all it is worth, with House Majority Whip Tom Emmer joining in on the dogpile by taking the opportunity to share why he thinks the impeachment inquiry is important and what it aims to show.

Speaking on the matter in a statement to Breitbart News, he said that the aim of the impeachment inquiry, announced by Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday, is to show that “not even President Biden is above the law.”

In his statement on the matter, Rep. Emmer first said that the House GOP aims to improve transparency, saying, “The American people gave our House Republican majority a mandate to provide transparency and accountability, and that’s exactly what we’ve done over the last eight months.”

Continuing, he noted that Comer has already done good work in exposing the Biden family, saying, “Chairman Comer has proved the Biden family engaged in a disturbing pattern of corruption that included selling government access to foreign adversaries like China. I fully support Speaker McCarthy’s commitment to follow the facts wherever they lead and ensure no one, not even President Biden, is above the law.”

In a tweet about the interview and his views on the impeachment inquiry, Rep. Emmer said, “I fully support @SpeakerMcCarthy ‘s commitment to follow the facts wherever they lead and ensure no one, not even President Biden, is above the law.”

Rep. Emmer’s statement comes alongside Speaker McCarthy’s recent statement on the matter, one in which he said, “Taken together, these allegations paint a picture of a culture of corruption. These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”

Speaker McCarthy added, “That’s why today, I am directing our house committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public. It’s exactly what we want to know: the answers.”

Rep. Emmer had previously described an impeachment inquiry into Biden officials as the disinfectant that America needs, saying, “The best disinfectant for corruption is sunlight, transparency, and there has been none, and there’s a lot of corruption in this administration, and outside of it by the way, relating to it.”

Congressman Russell Fry joined in as well, saying, “Unlike the Democrats, @HouseGOP has only followed the facts in our investigations. The facts have guided our way. Since the press won’t do their job and agencies (to this point) won’t do theirs, @JudiciaryGOP and @GOPoversight have led the way. The focus is much clearer and the evidence continues to mount against Biden. The Constitution prescribes a way to hold government officials accountable. The time for an impeachment inquiry is NOW!”
