Recent box office reports show that Super Mario Bros. is the number-one movie in North America for the third straight weekend. The film, starring famous actor Chris Pratt, earned an additional $58.2 million during its third weekend.
Super Mario Bros is far ahead of any other movie in earnings. Breitbart reported on the box office reports of other competing films:
Coming in at No. 2 is Evil Dead Rise with $23.5 million, The Covenant at No. 3 with $6.3 million, John Wick: Chapter 4 at No. 4 with $5.8 million and Dungeons & Dragons at No. 5 with $5.4 million.
Rounding out the top tier are Air at No. 6 with $4.9 million, The Pope’s Exorcist at No. 7 with $3.3 million, Renfield at No. 8 with $3.1 million, Beau is Afraid at No. 9 with $2.8 million and Suzume with $1.7 million.
The smashing success of the new children’s movie centered around the classic video game character shows that the average consumer wants less woke indoctrination in their children’s movies. They want to return to an era where a company like Disney isn’t embarking on a political agenda instead of focusing on entertaining content. The America Tribune wrote about Disney’s recent failures:
“Disney’s bottom line woes are being attributed to its overtly woke politics and productions. Last year, it took a stand against Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ parental rights bill that banned teaching various topics to the state’s youngest students. DeSantis has since revoked their special tax standing and sovereignty.
“Disney has also churned out one disgusting show after another, each of which has bombed at the box office or on its streaming platform. In 2022 alone, Disney lost hundreds of millions of dollars on Strange World, Lightyear, and Turning Red, and its Marvel and Disney units have gone woke beyond salvation, ruining some of the biggest IPs in modern history.”
On opening weekend, Super Mario Bros led the box office bringing in well over $200 million, according to Breitbart. The movie also set records during its second weekend bringing in a whopping $86 million in ticket sales for North America. This was only a 41 percent drop from the opening weekend, marking the most an animated film earned in North America on its second weekend. Breitbart reported:
For most blockbusters, second weekends are usually down by about 60%, making “Mario’s” 41% drop especially noteworthy. According to Comscore, only a handful of films that opened over $100 million have had less of a fall, including “Shrek 2,” “Frozen 2,” 2002’s “Spider-Man,” “The Force Awakens” and 2016’s “The Jungle Book.”
“To the casual observer that may not seem like a big deal, but that is an important metric,” Dergarabedian said. “It’s the greatest indicator of audience love for the movie.”
In celebration of the film’s success, Chris Pratt said:
“Thank you to everyone who checked out The Super Mario Bros. Movie this weekend! If you haven’t yet, do!
“To celebrate I held a baby goat, caught a couple bass, found a blacktail shed, drank some coffee and hung out with my bro in the A- frame he and his girlfriend Lindsay refurbished, got teased because Lindsay actually found the shed not me but I took a picture like I found it. Am I jealous? Yes. But would I tell her that? No.”
