David Bakhtiara, a three-time Pro Bowl offensive lineman, proclaimed that Tom Brady effectively “killed PC culture” with his Netflix roast, featuring countless politically incorrect jokes from many comedians and other big-time personalities.
The event featured names such as Kevin Hart, Jess Ross, Dana White, and many more. As the mic was passed around, the jokes became increasingly irreverent toward Brady and other famous attendees, such as New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Kim Kardashian.
Bakhtiara took to social media, where he lauded the roast and Brady’s willingness to be “socially crucified” in a questionable comparison to Jesus Christ. “Guys, just rewatched the roast again. I can confidently say @TomBrady has killed PC culture,” the former NFL player said. “He is our Jesus Christ. He pretty much socially crucified himself on Netflix live for 3 hours while the world watched. He is a god d— hero. We are healing. It’s marvelous.”
The event also received praise from other professional football players, such as standout linebacker Shawne Merriman, who lamented the censored state of society. However, he noted that the event “broke the mold” amid this phenomenon.
“I put on Twitter that I give nothing but big ups and a tremendous amount of respect to Netflix, because in today’s society where everything is so censored … what people don’t know is when you go sit in those boardrooms when you’re coming up with this material, you got to go through so many checks and balances,” Merriman explained to Fox News Digital. “For them to clear this and let this happen live, I think they broke the mold on censorship.”
He further suggested that Netflix’s roast set the standard for what is now acceptable content in the world of comedy. “I think they broke the mold on what’s OK now. It’s OK for comedy. It’s OK to crack jokes. I mean, there was everything in there, from race jokes and gender jokes. It’s like man, let’s get back to that – where comedy is comedy, and it’s OK. Nobody was offended and it was a great time. It was the best roast I think I’ve ever seen in my life.”
The American Tribune reported on Dana White’s monologue from the event, where he sounded off on the “liberal f***s” who organized it. “Actually, let me get into this real quick. It pisses me off. I flew all the way out here and you guys give me 60 seconds,” he said.
The UFC boss then delivered a joke about his name, often being assigned to the opposite gender. “My name is Dana. Is that not trans enough for you liberal f***s,” he said, slamming political correctness commonly associated with Netflix.
“Tom, you played for the Patriots for so long that I was actually starting to feel like you were from Boston. Then I saw you running. I was like, no, he’s definitely from San Francisco,” he went on. “Tom, you would have been a great fighter. You’re already the master of the ground and pound. That’s what you call coffee dates with your boyfriend, Alex Guerrero.” White added.
