Appearing on FNC’s “America’s Newsroom,” Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the House and a consistent Trump ally over the past few years, claimed that far from the much-anticipated red wave faltering in November, the House Republicans will gain a massive majority in a “Republican tsunami.”
Beginning his speel about why he thinks that the GOP is in for a major victory come November, one even bigger than many expect, Gingrich highlighted how Kevin McCarthy is building a consensus among the GOP members of the House about how they’ll govern if they win, saying:
“I think what Kevin McCarthy is trying to do and what I saw yesterday with his members, he succeeded. He is laying out a platform for governing, not just a platform for campaigning.”
Continuing, Gingrich then went on to explain what it is about Joe Biden’s America that means a Republican Tsunami in November of 2022 is likely, hitting primarily on issues like crime and inflation and saying:
“I think the American people want to change the trajectory. They want to stop the murders. They want to stop the rising prices. They want to get back to independence in energy. And I think that the commitment to America that the House Republicans are launching provides exactly the kind of things that the American people would like to replace the current failures with. ”
Then, wrapping up his pro-red wave argument, Gingrich highlighted how painful costs are getting for Americans attempting to buy the bare necessities, particularly food and gasoline, using those added expenses to bolster his argument that America isn’t working for the average person with Joe Biden in charge. In Gingrich’s words:
“The truth is, and you know this, the two of you, when you go to the grocery store, you know it ain’t working because it’s too expensive. I just paid $5.05 a gallon for gasoline last Saturday. It ain’t working. It’s too expensive. You watch the evening news and see the local murder rate. You know it’s not working. That is why I think this will be a much bigger Republican tsunami than people currently expect.”
